For the 3rd time successfully, thought it might be time to share it. This lancer on a Courser was chasing me in an open field (I use just a Knightly arming with no shield and I was riding a Destrier). He had been chasing me for quite a while by then. I held a right swing, looked as far back to the left as I could, pressed Ctrl+J and swung. His ass ran straight into my sword.
I don't think he knew what hit him.
Knightly arming sword -8944 Gold
Destrier - 23,470 Gold
Watching his character slam into my sword and getting murked in half while screaming *AIIIIIHHHHHH!!!!*, toppling off his horse with blood flying everywhere, and proceeding to be dragged another 100 feet in a circle by his Champion Courser? PRICELESS

wow i have never been able to cut anyone in half on here... :(
-
 Nice! Hehe this is much better than those cav "go-spawn-couch-a-lvl-4-peasant-lol-I'm-pro". No offence (expect for Ulruk and all the cav who go spawn hunt for KD)
-
I used to do that all the time as a 1h cav, its damn effective since noone really uses it so lancers rarely expect it but it can be hard to pull off and you usually end up just stopping their horse and getting a lance in the back.

Meh?

Use that trick on HA's. If you're being chased by HA it's a sure fire way to get them to run into your sword if you time it right. Supermario used to pull this on me :|
If you're a lancer riding an arabian then you probably already know how to catch a chasing HA :P

Is CTRL-J rearing and autostopping your horse? Can't believe that is a feature, remove that shit.
-
Would love to have seen that. The only thing I've ever used ctrl+j for is horsie cyber.

It's nearly useless anyway, and looks cool.
-
its not useless unless you dont like BOTDF
-
It's nearly useless
hit the Ctrl-J, they'll fly right by
-
Why is it CTRL+J and not something like CTRL+W or CTRL+S? Some of us have smaller hands you know! This is discrimination against people with small hands and I am filing for a lawsuit at once. My lawyer Bob LoBlaw will be in contact with you admins.

yes, the top gun move..
-
I stabbed a lancer cav charging me from the ground with a simple nordic once
he was the last one too, made me feel very epic
-
That's a good move. Another good move I haven't been able to master (I've only tried it like once) is when I'm trying to chase someone down with my lance (and they have a lance) they will slow down and start to turn, as I pass by they will hit me (assuming I don't hit them).
I think smoothrich is the best at this, there's one other cav that I'm forgetting who's also good at this...I don't think it's cyranule, maybe bad player...not sure.

You should always -- as cav -- have CTRL + J bound to something less of a hassle to click.
CTRL + J is in essence an emergency brake, bind it to mouse 4/5 or something around WSAD and you'll never bump the wrong targets.
Long time since I was CAV though (like a year), can't remember the work-around - since it is impossible to do via keybindings.
Edit: ... and google won't be my friend to solve it 8( wonder if it is even possible anymore since X patch (ctrl+f) way back. Either way it is a great feature to utilize as a horseman.
-
I think you need one of those fancy keyboards that you can set a bind or macro on. I don't know if I could just set a key binding using something like EZ Macros, I always thought making a macro or bind was illegal (basically because some noobs would bind feints and swing combos).
-
As long as people aren't binding/macroing feints or attack-patterns I personally don't see any issues. However someone who does macro feints or attack-patterns should definitely be banned and treated as any other autoblocker/high-end cheater.
CTRL + J is a horrible keybind though, especially when single player had ctrl + h = cheat.
-
You can rebind keys with several programmes. I used Keytweak. I made my escape key right Control as esc stopped working. Should be able to do it with ctrl+J as well although I've never bothered to try it.
Edit: Ok using that programme you can't map key combinations. I'm sure there is one that can though.

Kerrigan and Leed have taken me off my horse so many times with this.
