What's better for blunt damage - 2hers? polearms? And which weapons would be best suited for this task? Probably the mauls, cause they have crushthrough right?
Also, what build should accompany such weapons? (almost) full str?

Deadly. 30/9 and a Mallet is also quite good. Or a Great Maul, but it's a tad overdone these days. Studded Warclub for style.

16/24 is great for building around the Long Hafted Spiked Mace, especially if it's +3.

Even better

why iberian mace and not the longer military hammer? And doesn't strength increase chance to knockdown/crushthrough etc?
-
I suppose its a taste problem.
I prefer the Military Hammer, because i prefer not to have to facehug people to hit them, but it is a tad slow feeling.
and knockdown is factored by either damage or weight, i cannot remember.

IIRC it is factored by PS, raw damage and STR.

Why 16 STR?

Yeah. But the knockdown chance is also capped (at 30% I think), so having LOADS of STR wont increase it, really. Anything from 15 STR and up would max out your knockdown chance, I guess (ofc, not with weapons like wooden stick etc).

Weight is also a pretty big factor.
(rand(0.0, 1.0) < min(item_weight * 0.33, 2.0) * min((raw_damage - 20.0) * 0.5, 10.0) * 0.015)

30/9 10 ps and bar mace

Weight is actually pretty much the only meaningful thing if you assume your blows won't have negative speed bonuses (though of course they sometimes will). To reach the cap of damage's effect you need to deal just 40 raw damage anyway, which happens with about any "proper" build and "proper" weapon.
So knockdown builds: get as heavy weapon as you can.

Just to clear it up for people. The 40 damage you need to do is the RAWR damage (as Elmokki correctly said). Raw damage is the damage you do before armour reduces damage.

Why 16 STR?
Probably because top tier armor has 16 req?
