Why the heck is this allowed? Half the time I was being shot at whilst trying to get the ball to put it back into play after a scored goal. There were two Draconian guys in particular who made it their lifes aim to kill me over and over as goalkeeper. I don't play rageball often but this has put me off it a bit. It's just a bit stupid. In that first screenshot you can see 5 ranged shooting me all at once (the jumping guy is a thrower and guy with cleaver had a bow):

I can see how it could possibly make sense when the ball is close. But it was at the other end of the pitch  :|

Wow you really caught those guys red handed, you are right though, they have no right to do that, it just makes the goal keeper play style a misery :( Need to think of a way to limit this shit...

No rules!! The problem could easily be solved by one of your teammates coming back to attack them, forcing them to fight him while you moved the ball.

It could be fine, with the condition that he makes no damage. Otherwise, it would be easy to kill attacker who come close to the goalzone

What's the point of not allowing melee players to attack the goalie, but ranged can?

But if you're going to make a rule that you can't shoot at the goalie (which would make sense to me) you'd also have to make it so the goalie can't shoot out of the goalie crease as well.

I apologize for my friends harassing you like that, though your teammates could have easily killed them.
It's funny since I was on your team and my mates were on the opposite, our team had no defence.

I had lots of fun listening to them giggling and laughing in teamspeak btw.

Precisely. There's no point in the circle if ranged can shoot into it.

First of all, i saw you shooting/killing other players as well while you played goalkeeper, it's kinda unfair that you can kill other players, but when other players kill you, you're gonna report them? Seriously..

Also, why only post about us as "those draconian guys", surely we weren't the only ones.
You could also just ask your teammates to kill the people that attack you.
 
Anyway, it's kind of lame that you're insulting other players while you were attacking them as well.

I shoot the ones carrying balls towards the goal. Or the ones killing me. Otherwise I didn't. I'm fine with the keeper being able to deal no damage as it should work both ways.

You were the most persistant. You did it for an entire map. Most killed me once then went away.

I don't believe I insulted anyone?

While they are attacking you, they aren't at the other end getting the ball and preventing scores on their own goal. So it is only a minor issue of you care about winning.

Once the new scoring system I saw proposed gets implemented, this really won't be a problem I don't think. Especially if experience and gold gets tied to "rageball" points and not kills or time in game. They will have incentive to do productive things.

No need to make them invulnerable or prevent them from attacking once that is in.

It makes the goalkeepers life a misery. So yeah it should be changed.

And yeah you did do it for the entire map. I took particular note of you as the second picture with all the javs is entirely your work.

Picture 2 does not  prove i was throwing javs, neither does picture 1.  If you want to prove that i was attacking you, at least take  pictures that actually prove anything.

Urm no...that's not insulting you. Do you even know what an insult is?

Well admins, if they really wanted to, could check the logs and see you killing me over and over with javs. You're the one jumping in the first picture, after the first goal, and 9 goals later you were still doing it when I took the second picture.

Funny thing is I didn't even name you directly...it was a general statement and this was a topic about changing the system. You're the one who came on and made it about you. So obviously you were involved.

Btw, if you don't want me to kill you as a goalie, just make sure you shoot the ball out faster, because I get sick and tired of waiting.

Bit hard to do that when you're being shot before you can pick the ball up and get it out.

Wear better armor. That's what I do, it has no effect on your ball catching abilities.

Armor is quite useful since you regenerate health.

And this is what it has come to. Complaining about killing enemies, fucking sweet.

The other day I was kicked and slashed repeatedly by a teammate because I was trying to kill the enemy goal keeper. Note, he didn't have the ball, and the ball was getting closer. So, why take the risk of letting them grab the ball when I can put a throwing axe in the guy's face before we even throw for the goal.

Well I play GK religiously in the NA server. I've found that when my team has the ball and they wont leave me alone I just go stand behind the net. If they're shooting at me when the ball is close, I totally expect it, and I'm a shielder for that reason.

if 5 guys are shooting at you, where are the rest of your team?

If it's a case of them not helping then it sux but no1 ever gets a good team 24/7.

This isnt american football or rugby with a bit of violence tagged on, this is RAGE BALL.


Ive said this a 1/2 dozen times but i'll say it again because it's valid for this post - I really see Rageball as very similar to Bloodbowl.

In bloodbowl there's lots of different races to choose from. Some are good at running/passing and dodging. Some are just good at killing. Some races just destroy the enemy team and when there's no defenders left they finally decide to score.

There's no races in rageball of course, but there's different builds and styles of characters and different mindsets of those characters because of the players behind them.

I suck at shooting and im an average passer. Im decent at fighting and getting into position for the ball though and that's how i play. Sometimes I try to follow and take out key players on the enemy team. Sometimes I hunt ranged who are shooting my goalie. I might kill them a dozen times before they move off.

All of the above have some reason for the kill. Sometimes I just attack enemy players to get their attention or just bcos... i want to kill them.

I'm really quite undecided on that topic. As it is, half the time I'm playing Rageball, I'm Goalie. I fucking detest being shot by lemmings with no aim whatsoever, as the Ball is on the otherside in the process of being dunked into their own goal. I dislike being shot when the ball is near, but I'm not against it, as it's a legit attack then. It really somewhat comes down to teamwork. If you've got a fail defense, you'll be shot at and literally won't be able to defend the goal.

I mean, when I'm outside the goal, I'm with RandomDude on this. I kill where I see the need for it, especially as one can really see quite fast who's decent and who isn't. Agiwhores are getting killed anyways causetheir speed mostly makes up for their lack of skill. That's why I also went 2h/thowing hybridd now.
