I'm getting bored of selling/auctioning loom points.
Would anybody be interested in a loom point lotto?
Idea being, you put up 5-10-20k, whatever, and you get that many "tickets" when the raffle comes.
Obviously I'd still like to get a decent price for my point, and would add some incentives if I got a lot of money.
Well, added a poll. What's everyones thoughts? If I think I'd get a decent profit, the auction will be over in about a week.
*This is only cRPG money obviously. :P
Edit: feel free to discuss your opinions.

By decent I hope you mean small. Sure i'm down.
-
Very good idea. for participants, it gives you the chance to gain a loompoint at a discounted price. However as the seller, you would have to be prepared to maybe take a loss compared to if you just sold it straight up.
-
To give you an idea I am expecting to get 500k from this. Would like to see around 600, though. Decent profit, from that standpoint, would be like 625k or so. If there is a lot of interest (like I get 1 million) I would give some of the extra money to second/third place winners. But yes I would still like money. :P
Well I'll see what kind of results the poll gets, and what kind of responses there are. I wouldn't want to get a tiny amount of money for it, boredom or no.

Your morbid forum signature takes a lot credibility off from this.

Sure as long your doing it

if you are going to do a lotto, you better find some transparent way of picking the winner.
One way to do it...
say ticket prize is 100 000 gold
Put up stones for sale at
100 000 , 100 001 ,100 002, 100 003 ... etc
To enter, buy the stone from you. No pledging / trying to collect and so on..
To decide the winner find a public source of "random" number, middledigit from the volume or value traded of Apple shares on a certain date , the last digit in the first ball drawns in an offical lottery.
The timestamp on a forumpost(last digit second).
Then like the mob you could have a nice racket going, running the numbers.
A hatdrawing lotto is hard to get going for "serious" virtual gold, trust issues.
good luck

In the next version you will be able to sell ur loom point via market, which makes the life alot easier.
-
Yes I was going to use random.org, and I guess people would just have to trust me. :P
If one of the mods would do it for me, there you go.
And the order at which people pledged would be their ticket numbers.
And so much for my sig huh? Man it keeps getting nerfed! :(

You seemed to have missed the point.
PUBLIC source ,meaning a source of randomness you have no control over and is observable for everyone.
Not you supposedly drawing from a hat or random.org
Under your avatar you have "why do butts" and use LLJK clantag..
If you want this to work, you have think it thru properly, and arrange it in such a way that a potential player does not need to trust you personaly more than that you will actually complete the transaction.
If one of your LLJK teammates wins the first loompoint you use in the lotto, what non-LLJK player do you think will want to play it again?
-
how about doing it on a fixed date and time (For example April 9th, 8 PM (GMT+01:00)) and invite all people to a video conference. You would just need a program that shows them your monitor. I'm not sure how many people could see it if you would use Skype or teamviewer for this, but I'm sure there is a program that makes this possible.
-
This seems a good idea.

If the point comes and I go through with this, I would invite anybody who cares, to watch it.

I doubt LLJK would even really buy into this and some of them don't like me anyway so. :P
But can you tell me... why DO butts? They are everywhere. It seems a simple question butt without answer...
I am always open to suggestions of course which is why this thread was started, and I had even offered to have a neutral party the whole community trusts pick the numbers, but the livestream seems a good idea. Just need trusted members of the community to watch it.. :P

Duuuuude, yes, but it'll have to be like 25k plus me thinks.

Count me in 8-)
