Has anyone heard anything about plans for this? Or know much about this game?
Apparently its supposed to come out pretty soon (also being released by Paradox) and is supposed to be largely similar to MB except slightly less simulation a bit more arcade-ish.
Wondering if CRPG is planning to eventually create a CRPG-like mod for that game if it's successful.
-
Now thats a bit premature.
-
Wanted to know if anyone here new more about this game than I did...
If it is similar to MB and just newer/better graphics then it would be a logical thing for crpg to move to....
-
But the native War of the Roses system already has personalization of characters and some form of "grind", why would there need to be a mod designed to implement those ideas? I'm more worried about the actual combat system and how it looks/feels/plays, and videos don't look very encouraging so far.

War of the Roses looks like crap in the gameplay video. If it plays anything like it looks, M&B is and will be tons better.
-
War of the Roses looks like it is probably a lot like Warband native, but I do not know if they are going to have mod support.
By that I mean expect customization in single-player, and CS deathmatch with classes for multiplayer.
I'm not really getting my hopes up, with just two factions.. going for kind of a historical angle.. hmm.. only if it were the Jamestown angle.

Yeah doesn't look very promising at all. Looks like they tried to "mainstream" warband into the cookie cutter CoD/BF system. Fucking publishers are only interested in backing games that can appeal to the most people. And the way you appeal to the most people, is to cater the game to the lowest common denominator. Niche games like M&B have been less common over the past 15 years, and they will continue to be even less common.
I won't judge the game before it's released and hopefully not before I play it...but I'm really just crossing my fingers for M&B2. That being said, I didn't even have to try WF&S to know I didn't want it. My bro bought it and told me it was based off of the first M&B, even though it was released after warband. You can't get me all gushy wet about Warband features and then expect me to go back to playing M&B game features...

I am actually noticing an increase in indie developers and good medium budget games due to digital sales becoming more prevalent and the need for a publisher as a middle man dropping.
War of the Roses will be the perfect game for people who found Warband too hard :P

Yeah, so far all I know is that its " supposed to be similar to MB mechanics but with a little more arcade"....which scares me in some ways.
I'm hoping they don't over simplify the combat system for more shallow learning curve like Teeh said...attempting to master the difficult mechanics in MB (emphasis on attempting) is a lot of the fun!
Although, lets face it - games are published with the intention of making money :)
Cracka whats WF&S?
-
Fatshark still don't have a timeline for moding dlc. They said they are going to do it, at some point. So with out that, their would be no port unless they contacted chadz and sorted it out.
Do be scared by the "arcade" and "accessible" words being thrown about willynilly it doesn't look like its going to be to bad at all. More importantly if it does have good moding DLC the basics of the combat system seem to be about 50x better than warband which they should be given the advances in everything since warband came out.
Don't worry about the learning curve, its still going to scale like a cliff its just going to be more intuitive and guide you a little more. For arguments sake your not going to play wotr for a year and then find out about clang bangers.

IT IS GOING TO SUCK.
Short Answer is NO.

Not worth to transfer crpg to WotR, if we already know that a dev team works on M&B2. Plus see arguments above... better dont.

with fire and sword. and yes games are published with the intention of making money, that's why 98% of MMORPG's in the last decade were clones of WoW's gameplay/mechanics, and why most shooters nowadays look like CoD or BF type games. They are trying to appeal to the largest possible audience, which means that the game can't be too difficult to learn, and can't piss people off too much when they die (like losing equipment would make a lot of people rage in MMO's, but it would also make a lot of people happy).
Too bad they don't realize that they are literally missing out on about 30-40% of the population who doesn't play MMO's because of the style that they are in, and that they cater to care bear 13 year olds.

war of the roses is announced as flagship project of paradox, which gives us hope that i will be done nicely. Also it means that we most likely wont see much of moding done to this game.
-
Well it just kind of seems like a copy of M&B multiplayer but with some modernisations (afterall the basics of M&B are almost 10 years old now, and started as an indie garage game). If they do it well it will have a less glitchy melee physics engine, and cRPG-like character customizations built in.
I think they are hoping to bring in new people who haven't really tried M&B, or just getting people who only play native Warband not mods, by showing off its slick features, doing promotions, etc. cuz there isn't too much appeal to existing M&B player communities.
Paradox is hedging tho, they aren't going all-in with War of the Roses, they are still supporting M&B, with stuff like publishing Mount & Musket as Napoleon DLC. I still have a hunch "Project Asinus" is Paradox publishing cRPG in the same sort of deal.

This game just sucks! crpg is more better and where u seed admins who hear his players?
-
There won't be mod support at release and although they said they would like it, don't get your hopes up.
Their unlock system will be identical to BF3 by the sounds of it except that coop unlocks are replaced with singleplayer unlocks.
Also the gameplay video looked horrible :(
Graphics were shiny though.
