Title: Graphics hard lockups driving me INSANE

PLEASE, for the love of god, help. This has been going on for years now, and it's really, really frustrating.

Symptom: Random graphics lockups, in which my screen will cycle between two frames and sound is fragmented in sync with the cycling.

The only way to fix it is to alt-tab. It SEEMS to me that my AMD 5870 is running out of memory... If I uncheck Load Textures on Demand the lockups happen almost instantly.

I've tried every damned combination of video settings I can think of. Has anyone run into this and found a solution?

Memory problem with warband engine most likely. I had the exact same problem, and running in dx7 solved it for me (not very pretty, but it's not THAT bad).
