Ok, it is a problem to me, maybe a common 'Ha ha nub' to others.
I recently respecced at level 28, I went for a 'Arbalest' build.
My friend told me to put the weapon points into Crossbow and Polearm, I argued 1H sword because everyone else has this, he said polearm and was cast iron.
Turns out I can only use a quarter staff, or very limited weapons, is there any way without respeccing that I can take out those weapon points and re do them?
Ive not ever heirloomed, not been playing long, but everytime I try a build that does not fully suit me, I have to respect, now this arbalest is wiked! But the polearm is useless, they get close,
I am pretty much finished, no damage because the weapon itself is low, and slow to block.
Any help would be lovely.
Say if the worst came to worst I have to respect again, what would I go down too from 24/25? Cheers for reading.

Quarterstaff is a great weapon, has pretty low chance of knockdown but it is there. The damage may not be that high but it has pretty high speed. If you say that you are finished when they get close that just means you need to learn to fight a bit better because i dont think much would change if you wouldve been using a 1h...
Dont think you can get a free respecc tho, and imo you should stick with the quarterstaff for a bit, get used to it and learn how to fight with it, or just simply try to stay out of melee as much as possible.

Yeah, with the Arbalest & 1 set of bolts (for a total of 3 slots), you still only have 1 slot open... thus no shield. So you'll still need to learn to block with your weapon either way.
Personally, I'd Respec so you can use 1-handed weapons. But I just like options... having the availability of a bunch of several different weapon options (you may find a 1-hander you love).
Then again, it can't hurt to play a day or so with the Quarterstaff till you get back up to lvl 28. You may find out you like it.
