Title: Shield Question

Do all shields take at least 1 slot?  I know some, like Huscarl, take 2.  But curious if any decent shields take 0 slots.

The reason I'm ask is, I'm make a 1-hand/Shield/X-bow combo.  I'd like to go Nordic Champion Sword (1 slot), Arbalest (2 slots), Bolts (1 slot).

That'd fill all 4 slots... so is there a shield I can take?

there are 0 slot weapons abeit they are very much a last resort and not something you want to use on a regular basis.  And you are carrying around an assload of expensive gear that is going to bankrupt you very fast, especially since you are new.  Also the lower your proficiency with a weapon that more often you'll need to repair it.

Pick a specialty (melee or ranged) and use the best gear for it, then use a 'good bang for the buck' secondary weapon
