The following is an account of the events that transpired during a battle at Sumbuja....
When word swept the land that the banner of the Free Companies of Calradia would be flown again, many warriors answered the call.
In times like this, when men of the Northern Region feel threatened, those will a sack and the arms to still wield weapons will muster their pride and join forces. The small-armed tribe of the Free Companies sought to meet the treacherous Druzhina's campaign and strike a hole into its front lines. Sumbuja was the perfect place for the battle to take place. With the village nestled in near a mountain and surrounded on one side by a large cliff and the other side a Pit for mining, Sumbuja was key to revitalizing the FCC's movements and striking out on a new campaign.
As the battle started, it was clear that neither side was overly well-equipped and it turned into a mere game of numbers. The FCC's troops rushed in an unorganized clash of different armaments and gear towards waiting, yet feeble awaiting forces of the Druzhinas. It was evident that Hospitallers would aid the Druzhina campaign in the North, obviously having struck a deal with them to help, and in turn would most likely share the loots. This would give the unfamiliar Druzhina army some insight to the terrain and the warriors they would encounter. However, what they did not expect was the powerful army of Cavalry that was known amongst the Northern region.
The North raises some of the finest Horsemen alive. Druzhina and company felt that first hand as five or six lightly armed horsemen made wreckage of their formations and their infantry scrambled for cover only to be flushed out by the now approaching infantry. As men cowered and locked themselves in houses, it was clear that the Free Companies had won--but had they? In a strange order given by the leader of the Cavalry regiment, the horsemen swept through the lines of their own infantry with lance lowered and stacked unsuspecting man-upon-man atop their lance. As they would come to a stop outside of combat, their boot would reach forth and push the stack of men they had just kabobbed off of their lance and then would build speed to do it once more.
This quickly escalated into an Infantry vs. Cavalry match--from the same side of the battle. It was no doubt that the men concealing themselves in barns and houses would have felt shocked to peer outside and see the same force that was extinguishing them, also attempt to extinguish their own men. It was not until the last man of the Druzhina's platoon had been wiped from the battlefield, that awe-shocked, and somewhat dumbfounded survivors raised the banner of the Calradians over Sumbuja and then awkwardly set up encampment, unsure of whom was their enemy now.
I hereby sign my name, unknowing of friend or foe in this campaign.
