Title: How much HP is considered high?
Post by: MR_FISTA on March 07, 2012, 04:27:51 pm
I've recently retired my character that was a 36/3 build with 1 athletics with which I was able to get very good scores on siege.

For my next build I still want to be considered a 'tank' type player but with decent speed so I can make best use of my number one tactic, the Lolspin knockdown combo with my Masterwork long hafted knobbed mace.

I'm contemplating 30/12 or 27/15 the hp being 71 or 68 respectively.
The question is how many hits can I expect to take compared to my 91 hp I had previously as I still want to be able to make the odd mistake without it resulting In a 1 hit death.

I'm happy with the damage output for either build as Its above 50 minimum damage.

If anyone has any other suggestions for builds that would suit both my weapon and style I'd be grateful for any advice.

My armour is Novogrod Helm, White Transitional Armour with Surcoat, Wisby Gauntlets and Rus Cavalry Boots.

Also the only mode I play is Siege so please bear that in mind.

i have  65HP with ~50 body armour, and i never get onehit in melee, mostly 3 hit. With that build you will still be a tank and take loads of hits before going down.

for siege : str

you do quite well with your old built

but both are bunch of Hp and you'll make petty agi guy cry!

(ps you talk to an old 42/3 built runner :P)

I had a 30/12 build with medium body armor (sarranid mail shirt),  which gave me about the mobility of a plated 15 agi guy i would guess.

I could take tons of arrows and blows,  was mobile enough to avoid a lot of hits as well.  considering my pole inf playstyle,  I would use 30/12  if you have a longer weapon,  and 27/15 if you like closer fights.

the HP on both are far enough for any of your purposes

Considering the 133 length of the Long hafted Knobbed Mace and the fact I have to get close in order to finish downed opponents and my decent close quarters fighting ability (face hugging), I'l run with the 27/15 build and see how it goes.

good choice!  i am quite sure you will like it a lot.  you should also consider using some light armor from time to time and destroy peps with a long war axe,  its a killer combo,  specially if its a +3 one with 47 damage.  BAM

60-70 is a must for front-line infantry (survive mistakes, luck and your team mates). I'd say 70+ is considered high.

What is with that avatar Tears?

I've never used the long war axe but with that high a cut damage it sure looks appealing, my mace has 32 blunt which is nice as I love the chaos knock down causes.

I might try the non loomed version and see how it feels.

if your guy has 8+ PS one of the long axes will 1-2 hit lowbies in mail armor or below.  Knockdown is nice, but not at the expense of having to hit people 2-4 more times to kill them

LWA is a nice weapon...I think better than the great long axe.  But with that much power strike you're probably better off with a poleaxe type of weapon, most are pretty fast, decently long and in the high 30's for cut damage.

Just to give you some reference too, I'm a hybrid build with 18 str and only 2 IF and I have 57 hp.  I consider myself on the "weak" side...so I'd say 60 hp is probably middle of the road.

My build (at level 30):

    Strength: 18
    Agility: 18
    Hit points: 57

    Skills to attributes: 2

    Ironflesh: 2
    Power Strike: 6
    Shield: 4
    Athletics: 6
    Riding: 6
    Horse Archery: 0
    Power Draw: 0
    Power Throw: 0
    Weapon Master: 5

You can call everyone a wimp with this build.

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 41
Agility: 3
Hit points: 102
Skills to attributes: 18
Ironflesh: 13
Power Strike: 0
Shield: 0
Athletics: 0
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 0
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 114
Polearm: 1
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1

With good armor you'll need 15-20 hits. Force your enemies to GTX.
And you'll still do enough damage with something like war cleaver.

Imo, all builds with 24 STR + and atleast 3 IF are tanks.

My last build was 33/6 with 8 if to it, my current one is 30/12 with 1if and I don't notice that much of a difference.
