Hi guys,
This will become a poll for the best shield. But first I want nominations for the top 4 shields.
Put your nomination in red please.
Elite Cav Shield
Cheers
Frank

Brown Lion Heater Shield
Fast, low difficulty requirement, 1 slot, good hp, looms up to 99 speed.
-
A broad question. It all depends on one's play style and opinions.
Steel Buckler
The five difficulty one.
It's fast, strong, and awesome when you catch arrows in it.
-
Huscarl shield
Covers your entire body, etc, etc.
-
Do not use nominations from posts.
Put as many nominations as you can, I think it is unlimited.
My nomination is:
Steel Shield
-
heavy round by a long shot. faster than huscarl and nearly as strong but only takes up 1 slot. Other shields dont offer as much coverage so good archers/ranged can shoot weak spots in the heater/kite series and kill you while ur shield is up.
other shields like board/steel are too heavy & slow, so you'll just end up being flanked and killed while you turtle up
-
Huscarl, plate covered round, knightly heater.
-
Elite Cavalry Shield is my fav one too.
-
Without almost no competition: Knightly Heater Shield
- is fast
- low weight
- ok cover
PS: If the balance team would like to do something useful finally they could start
to make the 70% of not used shields more useful. There are to few high-tier fast shields.
You could do a lot of joy if you rework some of the shields noone uses to high tier fast ones.

Knightly Heater Shield is a great shield when unloomed, but I think the Brown Lion Heater Shield takes the cake when fully loomed. The Knightly Heater Shield goes over 100 shield skill when loomed, which is a waste. Brown Lion Heater on the other hand gets right up to 99 speed so it is essentially as fast, with a lot more hp and a reasonable amount of armor to make it last.

At the expense of being ugly as hell.
-
Yeah that shield has the best stats but its hideous. I would like a heraldic version with similar stats. All the other 3 shield skill shields that are heraldic are not nearly as good besides the round shield, and you can't use that on horseback. The widest heraldic horseback shield with 3 skill is the heater I believe which isn't very wide at all compared to all the ugly ones.
-
I think the best is the heavy round defense-wise, followed by knightly heater/huscarl. I think the heaters provide better offense at the expense of more vulnerability, but it's still pretty decent coverage-wise.
I also agree with the knightly heater vs brown lion loomed. You just don't find too many loomed shields very often, though. (Since it's easy enough to just pick one off the ground once your previous one breaks).
-
I like plate covered round shield
-

True. Fortunately seeing that our banner is a lion's head it works pretty well for me :D
-
I like my MW Round Shield. Great low cost shield 1 slot. I might just be the only person with a MW of it so style points! (goes well with my MW simple sword!)
But also I think the Heavy Round Shield is an excellent choice if you want to spend a little more and be more like everyone else.
-
Love the Elite Cav Shield. My fav shield. Good defense, nice hp and weight isn't too high either, same with price.
-
The elite cav is my fav, but the brown lion heater is the "best" in my opinion. It's quite cheap, fast and can take a good amount of hits.
-
Steel Buckler is best buckler!
-
B&W Kite Shield 4ever!
-
Round Shield gets my vote. It's badass
-
Depends on what you're playing. Heavy Kite Shield is my favourite (though my avatar says something different ).
-
In my opionion there is no best shield. It depends on your playstyle and build.
If you want to play very offensive try one of these:
- Knightly Heater/Kite Shield: has nice speed and armor, but the protected area is too small for me, often got hit by arrows or in melee even if I had the shield up, breaks very easily against shield breakers (you can put the shield on your back in 1on1 but against several enemies thats not an option)
- Elite Cavalry Shield: nice speed and good protection, but can't take lots of hits, perhaps still my prefered light shield, very nice for cavalry
For a more defensive playstyle I like:
- Heavy Round Shield: 1 slot and long duration even against shield breakers and awesome protection, if you want to use a sidearm (like a spear) I would use this shield, otherwise I would go for the Huscarl's
- Huscarl's Round Shield: like the Heavy Round with even better stats, but 2 slots, was very impressed when I tryed it out, perhaps my prefered shield
- Plate Covered Round Shield: very long duration against non shield breaking weapons, but rather slow and low hp
Allround Shield:
- Brown Lion Heater Shield: high hp, ok armor and nice speed for a very good price, but like Knightly Heater/Kite a rahter small protection area. You can't do something wrong with this shield, but the look is terrible.
You should always also look at the armor you wear, your athletics and your shield weight together with your weapon length. Don't make yourself too slow.
What I really don't understand, is why people prefer the Round Shield. The Heavy Round Shield is nearly the same, only much better.
-
I use the Plate Covered Round Shield , is very resistant and cheap expensive to repair
-
Green Practice Shield.
-
knightly heater is by far the best if you go by the stats. elite cav would be in second. I wouldn't consider heavy round or huscarl because they can't be used on horseback.
-
Good point churchill.
-
All your shields are too mainstream!!!
Steel buckler or gtfo!
-
Its funny that Steel Shield got onyl 4 votes and still is the most expensive shield :p
-
heavy round is better then round. I choose the round because not many have it. Also it is cheap to mass produce in strat and a decent option if MW
