simply put it tells ya how much of a hit actually kills hit points,  if at all.

It's litteraly body armor for the shield, I think. It reduces the amount of damage the shield takes and doesn't affect your own armor at all.

If you imagine the shield as a player. The body armour value soaks up damage and the excess damaege is taken from the hp.

Never catched why someone changed the description from native... (shield resistance)
