Hello friends, Siege Master Spook here. 8-)
And I'd like to just take a minute to say Ladders are an essential part of Siege that should not be phased out.
Make em four slots if you have to :!:
It's bad enough we had our siege time cut down by an entire minute, but completely removing ladders is just too damn painful a wound to bear.
Surely there must be a middle ground somewhere. :?
Remove Siege and Large ladders, keep medium and small ladders.
Sounds good to me!

Agreed!
Ladders and siege go hand in hand.
Not only do they make it more fun, it's also more realistic.
GIVE US BACK OUR LADDERS!
-
million +1, siege became totally shit. we need ladders back!!!
-
siege without ladders is fairly bland and boring, especially with the reduced time for attackers.
but some sort of other balancing is need to reduce ladder map and exploiting.
something like max of 2 of each type of ladder deployed at a time
-
Siege without deployable ladders is like everything else without deployable ladders... the way it's supposed to be.

Siege without deployable ladders is like everything else without deployable ladders... the way it's supposed to be.
god forbid allowing people to think, develope strategies & tactics and having to learn & adapt to the situation~. we wouldnt want anything like that
-
deff should bring ladders back
-
It also makes peasants actually worth something for the team. level 1 to 15 is pure ladder spammer!
-
No thx siege is now playable without watching an amazon rain Forrest getting cut down every round for the attackers to spam ladders everywhere...
-
Yes put ladders back in I'm tired of having a chance of losing as an attacker.
even with limited ladders (2-4) it's still a ridiculous advantage for the attackers & takes a crazy amount of coordination from defenders to counter, & with decent placement of ladders it's near impossible to counter. (Angling a ladder so the enemy has to jump off the walls onto the ladder to actually hit it, or to bring a long spear or pike)
Also a lot of maps allow for a complete ladder ramp from attacker spawn to defender flag, what this does is allows attackers to reinforce incredibly fast & normally can reach the flag faster than a defender who spawns in the castle but away from the flag.
Any way just my opinion, player placed ladders make attacking on siege too easy it's silly.
-
bring ladders back, but with restrictions (no large ladders, or ladders are 4 slot, or only 2 or 3 ladders can be deployed on a map at a time...or SOMETHING).
They need to be brought back though...definitely. Siege is getting stale.
-
Keep ladders removed, like others have said it actually gives defenders a chance. On most maps ladders let attackers easily bypass first line of defence and also greatly decreased time to flag making defence a joke unless they greatly outskilled attackers.
The problem is that removing ladders exposed how weak some maps are and people are turned off by the poor map selection.
-
I like it better with ladders removed. It's already pretty unpredictable if there are enough preset ladders/entrances.
-
Siege is fine without the ladders. People just need to understand, just because there is one raised ladder in front of you doesn't mean there aren't any other ladders on the map. Also, archers and xbows need to stop shooting and reloading on top of a ladder, kick em off!
-
Bringing back ladders would be fine if they were easier to destroy, yes? I always thought it would be neat if Firebombs could be brought back with the sole ability of destroying ladders, weapon racks, and siege shields easily. After all, it was easy enough to place a ladder that couldn't be reached by the defenders, and having an easy way to break them at a distance would fix that. Giving the Torch a bonus against siege equipment would also be pretty neat.
-
I used to think it would be bad if they ever removed deployable ladders from siege, but after it was done I actually preferred it more.
As has already been said umpteen times, defense has more of a chance of winning, although attackers still have the advantage on most maps.
Another disadvantage of having deployable ladders is that defense doesn't actually get to use any creativity or coordination - it's just 'camp the flag' every map. Without the ladders defense actually gets to enjoy using the rest of the map and defend some walls, ramps, doors, etc.
The ONLY way deployable ladders should be let back in would be if attacker spawn was reduced by at least 10 seconds. Otherwise there's just no chance 9 times outta 10.
-
Hmm my current siege experience as defender is "just camp the flag".
...
Ok, that is not the whole truth. On the both crap maps, where you have to hack through a few destroyable gates, we change that to "jump off the walls and disturb the attacks to knock on your gate".
-
I think the maps are already unbalanced as it is (defenders or attackers usually have a clear advantage on most maps). I think ladders just make it so that attackers can pretty much win every map.
Either way I wouldn't care, it's the same end result, the map is unbalanced. That's why I don't enjoy playing siege (If I'm trying to keep a multiplier).

remove all indestructible map ladders, make siege tower breakable, allow 2 of each kind of ladder to be deployed
siege would actually be FUN
