Title: Cav Bonus based on Riding Skill and actual requirement
Post by: Wookimonsta on February 27, 2012, 05:31:51 pm
It's quite simple.
For every Riding Skill you have above the requirement, you gain a small amount to every stat the horse has. +2 For HP and +1 for everything else
If you have 7 riding and go on a sumpter, the stats go from:

hit points: 90
body armor: 10
difficulty: 2
speed: 33
maneuver: 37
charge: 9
to
hit points: 100
body armor: 15
difficulty: 2
speed: 38
maneuver: 42
charge: 14

A courser on the other hand would only get this:
hit points: 102
body armor: 19
difficulty: 6
speed: 47
maneuver: 42
charge: 25

An arabian warhorse would get nothing.

The idea is to represent a superior riding being able to get more out of a horse than someone who doesn't have as much training.
Obviously this goes on top of whatever loom bonus your horse has

So someone with Arabian Warhorse- build would get the most out of every horse? Hmm not sure if want...

riding skill shouldnt improve armor and hp,  other than that i like it.

also,  i would like to add two things:

riding horses of higher skill requirement is possible,  but lessens stats

remove speed/maneuver bonus from loomed horses and only make them get hp and armor bonuses

I like your suggestions torben, except for the loom part.  Looms should stay the same (otherwise 3 gens of retirements go out of the window if your change gets implemented).

Also, you should be able to pick up any piece of equipment in the game, but if you don't meet the proficiency requirements it's heavily penalized.

With higher riding you have more speed which does increase weapon and bump damage. And you want to give an additional bonus to that? No.

I think you get bonus to your horse's stats after you meet the required riding skill to ride it. Riding courser with 6 riding or riding arabian warhorse with 7 riding doesnt give any bonuses to these horse stats.

Voted no. Cav is already best class for killing people on huge battles, they really don't need more buffs.

I feel this would be little over the top, giving sumpter maneuver as high as on courser, man, seriously?
I sniff someone trying to get around repairs

why would i ever want to ride courser again when i could get on 1/5 price of horse with almost same stats?

true,  i respecced to 8 riding once and was not noticeably faster than 6 riding.  only maneuver seemed to be a bit better
