Title: Convert one skill point to 16 Wpf

Some build does exactly fit to an exact level , and when you get over you may have nothing to do with the extra skill point.
That's why i was thinking of a good balanced way to use them.
So here what i purpose , being able to convert every skill point to 16 wpf. The number can still be discussed but i think that we must not get higher because so it isn't an alternative to weapon master.

Would that mean you could also convert 16wpf (not earned from WM) back into a skill point, or would the skill point be lost forever if you decided to?

I think that the skill point should be for the moment lost forever.
Want i want to do is to give an ability to player to spend their extra and useless skill point.
Finding an exact equivalent between wpf and skill point is more difficult.
But it that get implemented, why not later thinking of a more exact equivalent.
But for the moment we just have to find a number that is enough to avoid exploiting it

It's an interesting idea!  However I think wp in general will need to be made more attractive in order for this to have any real use... even as a ranged class I wouldn't trade 4 skill points for 64 wpf...that would end up being 5 or 6 more wp as opposed to 8hp, or 4 PS, etc.   And as a melee class I'd pretty much never do this.. even throwing 1 point into throwing would be more valuable IMO.

Not sure if this makes much sense. 16 WPF is worth almost nothing, esp. if you have a higher WPF level already (> 100 you need like 6-8 WPF per weapon-skill). So its better to put that skill point into 1 shield or something than waste it on a increase in weaponskill of like 1-3 points.
Or did you mean that its 16 points that go into weapon skill ignoring the conversion per level (if you have 150 polearm you can go to 166 polearm)? If so it would be overpowered for high levels.

I say get rid of both weapon master and the wpf system altogether, and just replace all of the wpf entries with skills for each weapon type. Your "skill" in a given weapon cannot exceed agility/3. "Weapon skill" affects damage and speed the same way that wpf does now, but does not have diminishing returns like wpf.

This makes agility suck less, gets rid of the "free" wpf for leveling, makes it easier to spend leftover points, allows people to hybrid without requiring lots of agility, creates more diversity...

Current wpf and wm system is completely ridiculous.

But since your idea makes sense, you can pretty much bet that it will never be looked at, let alone implemented.

I remembered the concept from the old ASCII RPG called NetHack, which used weapon skills in the manner described. I believe AD&D and most pen&paper RPGs have done the same thing since before most of us were born. Warband's WPF system is the anamoly. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Only been to MN once. I expected it to suck like my other midwest experiences (Mich/Ohio), but MN and WI are awesome.

Let's give you an exemple :
Level 31 (8 892 403 xp)

    Strength: 36
    Agility: 3
    Hit points: 95
    Skills to attributes: 6
    Ironflesh: 12
    Power Strike: 12
    Athletics: 1
    Weapon Master: 1
    Polearm: 118

What do you do when you get level 32 skill point in :
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Riding: 0
Shield: 0

are useless!

Another build like that
Level 31 (8 892 403 xp)
   
 Strength: 24
    Agility: 12
    Hit points: 75

    Ironflesh: 8
    Power Strike: 8
    Athletics: 4
    Power Throw: 8
    Weapon Master: 4

    One Handed: 1
    Two Handed: 53
    Polearm: 53
    Archery: 1
    Crossbow: 1
    Throwing: 125

You can't use your skill point anywhere else at level 32.
Being able to sacrifice the three skill point i get level 32 would make me able to get 48 skill point.
It my not be enough the numer can still be discussed but that remain better than nothing

It wouldn't help str crushers...they'd be better off putting that skill into WM than getting 16 WPF.  If they maxed out their WM, then they probably aren't a str crusher.  Plus phew's suggestion is the best I've seen regarding WM/WPF.

So without my suggestion where will you spend your free 3 skill point at level 32?
Is that a STR crusher build?
You just don't want to really think about the suggestion you are just here to troll.
This suggestion is here to help people using the free skill point if they want to keep their build  over the level that they  planned to.
That will help hybrid , archer, thrower ,full force , full agi , 18/21 and every kind of build.

To put your skill point at  weapon master , you need to get more attribute point at agi.
The point is when you reached very high level , i mean passed level 31 getting three more attribute point is nearly impossible. So that would be a good compromise.

It's not that your idea is bad, it's just that 16 wpf sucks and your suggested change benefit a very small % of the playerbase.

If wpf did more than it does now your suggestion might be more appealing.

If you could turn 16 wpf into 1 skill point on the other hand...  :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

I didnt say that its definetely 16 and we can discuss it :)
In fact i was thinking 16 wpf per skill point means you get with this suggestion 48 wpf each level if you use your attribute point and your skill point
And 48 Wpf makes you have 48 in another weapon.
But we cant make it 20 or 24 . The point of the discussion is not really how much it should be , but at least should we do it.
Finding the exact number can be still done after we discussed if that is a good idea or not.
Imao i think that the way it is it cant harm anybody , and it give more ability.
We can also discuss if it needs to be buffed to 20 24 or 28
