Title: Can you play a cRPG character on someone else's PC?
Post by: Stokes on March 02, 2011, 04:42:19 am
I'm curious if there is a way to play your cRPG character on another person's machine. For example if I want to transfer my character to another computer or if I'm using a friends PC, is there a way I can play my cRPG characters instead of his?

I'm thinking it might be possible if you transfer the multiplayer character profiles FILE itself, but I'm not sure if that would work.

Any ideas?

Ive been wondering the same thing myself. A friend has been playing on my computer and has finally gotten a computer that can play M&B.  Hes put a lot of time into his character and it would suck for him to have to all over again.

Switch CD Keys using Reg Edit is the only way I can think of when you want to play on either's account.

Oooh, ouch, so it's based on CD-key then? That's hardly a casual solution. I guess it's doable but not worth it imo unless you're planning on permanently moving your characters.

Is there any other way or is that it?

You can but you would have to use his account, but that would conflict with HIS playing. Trust me, I've tried. I ended up just buying the game myself. After buying the game, don't bother asking to transfer the stats, lvls, etc. over b/c I've already tried that too. Good luck.

I never tried, but what about steam account ?
I bought the game with his box, and when i installed it, he used steam directly, whith the CD-key.
If i had to play with an other PC, i think i would install steam, connect with my own steam account, and re-install the game.
It should work, no ?

That will work. If you use the same steam account you will use the same CD key.

Your characters are bound to your cd-keys. That is it. Different steam accounts also have different cd-keys.
If he played with your cd-key/on your steam account, then he will have to buy the game and start over. Otherwise everything is fine.

If you use steam you can easily change the cd key to play on someone else's comp...

Interesting. My friend and I both have steam and we both own the steam version of Mount&Blade: Warband. If I wanted to play my characters on his PC or vice-versa we would only need to log into our steam account on the other person's PC, right?
