I've seen it a few times, been wondering about it myself. Does it mean plate-level stuff or what?

It's like the other army sizes. the price per troop of equipment is really high.

^ this, sorta

You can actually lower your rating by adding stuff.  50 high end suits + 50 high end weapons for 50 troops = shiny.  Buy 50 cudgels and you might go down to "armed".  It seems to be related to the AVERAGE value of your equipment, per troop (not TOTAL value per troop).

Yea, but even then, it'd still be shiney. The only way to go from SHINEY to a lower value is to increase Troop count. Adding more weapons INCREASES your average gold value per troop.

unarmed is like 3gold on average per troop, light is 3-15, armed is like 15-30 heavy is like 30-50, shiney 50+. That's like kinda how it works. If your average gold per soldier is in the light range, then you spent up too 15g per soldier.(those values are off of the TRUE value, but that's kinda how it works)

Yeah, I'm curious as to what the actual limits are, though. The bar for "shiny army" seems to be set really high, to the point where the gold spent on equipment becomes redundant.

we fought a shiney(fallen) army back during the steppe war. the guy had a Courser, miodao, sarranid mail shirt, good leg, head, and hand armor. Everyone else was nude, no weapon. this was a 49 man army. You can get some BASICS from that, but beyond that we don't know the exact amount.

Hmm, well that would mean it's not total equip cost divided by total tickets after all, because there's no way that would stretch far enough. Seems more likely to me that in calculating that army as shiny, all the unequipped tickets were ignored. Then it would make sense because the horse would add a lot of value to the otherwise just decent loadout.

My shiney army consists of Lordly Rus Scale Armors and Lordly Helms/Gloves/Boots and Weapons for every troop. :P

Okay, that's somewhat informative. Pretty sure heirlooming is irrelevant, mind you. I wonder if your army's status would downgrade if you included a ranged component.

Have him equip rocks maybe and see what that does as well.
