Hey, I'm thinking about trying out archery but I have a hard time hitting anything that's moving. I was wondering what more experienced toxophilites do when it comes to aiming.
Zoomed aim?
1st person aim?
1st person zoomed aim?
normal default view aim?
I know the 1st person view reticule is more faithful to where the arrow goes, but I seem to get tunnel vision when zooming or using 1st person. What do ya'll use?

I use 3rd person so I have proper awareness, and often use the tilde key.
1st always when shooting through arrow slits or windows.
Zoom I rarely use when shooting, I find my accuracy suffers for some odd reason.

Fighting/Walking in Thirdperson
Aiming/Shooting in Firstperson, mostly
button for viewswitching is on my mouse so i can switch pretty fast and combine both so i don´t have tunnelvision most of the time and can still aim.
only when i shoot targets near me i use thirdperson, though i used to be always in firstperson...but because i need to defend against teammates who can only swing their big swords without thinking when i play melee i switch to thirdperson nowadays.
zooming only for searching possible targets...it´s easier to see armorlevel, etc. with zoom as Tears said accuracy suffers
edit: finally one who try archery before saying its easy mode...though everything is easy when you can play...

Almost always thirdperson. You'll get used to the aiming differences between third/first if you do it enough. Though first person is easier to find out where your shot actually goes.
I feel the reason zoomed in view leads to worse accuracy is that it feels like there is less time to adjust your shot. A guy jerking back and forth seems to do it faster when your viewpoint is closer.
For awareness, I do a full 360 during my draw phase. As well, don't stop moving. Its easier to just stand there and plink away. But then its also easier for the cav/inf/archer to get a bead on you. Randomly moving around before I release has saved my life many times. Especially important since speed of cav makes it hard for them to adjust and archers generally fire in groups, get hit by one arrow and you'll likely be hit again soon after.

I played Warband for like five months before I realized I could zoom in with shift.

I think 3rd person view is actually more acurate when it comes to projectile trajectory, and I use zoom for long - mid range shots. As far as moving targets go, you need to figure out where it moves before it does, so you can release your arrow in time. You should never have to move your bow much, although slightly moving the reticule to a certain direction will actually focus the arrow's trajectory to said direction.
