Title: Polearm build 32+
Post by: Grumbs on February 15, 2012, 09:33:50 pm
This is where i'm at atm:

Now i'm wondering how to go for 32,33,34 etc. I was thinking of just converting stat points to skills, but is that the best route? At 34 I could have 27 str and add +1 powerstrike, +2 IF . But converting stats would give a better build short term. I could convert 1 stat point at 32 and save 1 skill point I guess if I was going for lvl 34.

Ideas?

I like to play with all sorts really. Don't have a preference atm, are you thinking about shield skill btw?

Id say converting them to skillpoints is the best choice, you could get +3 IF and +3 WM at 33, and at 34 some shield skill or whatever you thing fits your build. Id say that 1 PS damage can easily be replaced with the wpf from 3 WM's. You could even get 3 PT and use all the wpf to add throwing to the build, good for hunting archers and such.

Very much so, a mere 3 in that has saved my life countless times, and Rhaelys is a prime example of a top-tier polearm user who has decimated people by simply having that shield.

Personally, if I were you, if you are happy with your swing speed and how much your weapon breaks, stop putting points into WM, 5 is good enough honestly for most uses. Put 3 into shield, and then start maxing Iron Flesh, assuming of course that you convert for 3 skill points every level. Some people can't get the shield though to mesh with their playstyle, so you might want to test that on a STF first.

Iron Flesh is not terribly useful though with light amounts of armour.

Thanks for the tips. I'm thinking I will convert the stat points, just need to decide where and what order. Tears did you mean 3 WM is enough btw or 5?

I used shields with my first few gens with 2 handers, and I found them pretty useful for closing distances with ranged or making them switch targets. Downsides were there were rounds where I didn't really need the shield at all or I could end up playing too defensively. I could get too focussed on ranged rather than trying to kill other infantry, it just kind of made me too concerned with ranged. It was useful at times for sure but I will need to think about it.

Without the shield I move faster and can concentrate on my main role, and I can also take a siege shield or a 3 slot weapon+backup weapon.

Throwing sound interesting but I doubt I will go that route, want to specialise really and I dunno if 3-4 power throw will always be useful, could end up kinda useless if the mechanics changed or something

So I will either get more HP+ polearm wpf or some shield points, will think about it some more. Another options would be +1 athletics but that wouldn't come until lvl 34 now
