oh, and here I forgot one of those few modern composer who has a more classical approach and is not only accessible for atonal freaks like the mentioned schönberg: Arvo Pärt. truly magnificent, and I allways imagined many of his songs could be great as film music.

Well, I'm mainly into metal but I always have space for great classical music pieces.Try symphonic metal. I listen to it all the time. It mixes metal with classical influences like choirs and sometimes orchestras, sounds epic. Some power metal is like that too, focuses more on guitar and keyboard though.
