Title: Do heirlooms cost more to repair?
Post by: dynamike on February 03, 2012, 03:17:11 pm
A topic I am always wondering about but get conflicting responses on - do heirloomed items cost more to repair than default ones?
In the character equipment page, different prices are listed as selling value of the items and when you add them to your default equipment slots the total cost goes up as well.
Here is an example of an item I have selling prices on for different levels (in gold):
Masterwork Steel Bolts 2563 Well Made Steel Bolts 2051 Sharp Steel Bolts ? Steel Bolts 1282
Between the vanilla selling price and the +3 price there is a 200% price increase. Does this also mean they would cost twice as much to repair in the +3 stage than the default one?
This would significantly lower the attractiveness of heirlooms, but I guess every improvement comes at a cost... does anyone have a definite answer on this one?

They Dont cost more to upkeep, it just shows a different price on the website.

Thanks for the quick answers!
If anyone has experienced anything controversial to that, let me know please.
Or better yet: devs update the website please

My spirited courser (and when it was well bred) had the same exact upkeep as a regular courser ($1388).
On the website it just says your total equipment costs a lot more than it really is (if you have loomed items)

Have you ever heard of search Dyna? Like this questions been asked billions of times. Infact, you can just check it yourself.
Take the repair cost, divide by .07 and you SHOULD get the real cost of the item, and that would equal the cost on marketplace.
(or take the cost of the base item and multiply by .07 and you will get the repair cost it shows you.)
Simple check! Math is awesome.

No.
This can be proven by noting that repairs are always 7% of the base item cost, and using your MW whatever has the same repair cost as a standard one.
However, the website showing inflated prices does screw up new players rather frequently, and I wish the devs would implement an "average repair cost" or "true load-out cost" in the character sheet.
I also wish repairs were not random but also fixed, but that is for a different topic.
