and other than losing all your troops, what happens when I lose a battle in strategus?
too lazy to search for answer , looking for them on a silver platter thx

When you lose a battle in strategus you: 1) lose all equipment, 2) lose all troops, 3) lose all Trade Goods and 4) you are teleported to a random location.
Also. You equip your troops by crafting (cheapest) the items or buying them from other players (can be cheap or expensive) or the AI (very expensive).

To expand on what Zapper said, just having equipment in your inventory.
When a battle takes place people ("Mercenaries") sign up for it and it plays out like a regular c-RPG battle, but they use the equipment out of your inventory. It CAN run out so it can be dangerous to raid with a minimal amount of gear.

Incidentally, I think #1 has changed. Diggles got attacked a while ago and got sacked but when he teleported, he still had some of the gear that didn't get used in the battle. Just eyeballing it, I want to say he kept 20% of his gear? 10%? Something like that. He still had stuff, anyway. There was no retreat and he lost all troops, so it was just a regular old defeat.
