I don't see the game balance reason for the damage soak/penalty to ranged to be so high on leg armor. There are really only two classes that are concerned about it. Cavalry has their leg armor at the natural swing height for melee and so get hit their more often. It is also in the middle of that horse target and gets hit by arrows. Shielders also might be concerned by an archer shooting at their feet.
I don't see a valid reason for mitigating this damage.
Cavalry don't need more help. Shielders can lower their shield or get more points into shield.
Allow normal damage values to leg armor.

???
any who i think so as well maybe then not only would we prioritize shots to the head the legs as well (i melee btw i assume hes talking about ranged classes)

uuuuuggggghhhhhh
just revert the patch already in regards to range damage. It's all wrong...all wrong...all wrong

Archers AIM at the feet of shielders. We also shoot exposed legs through fences, next to trees (those are usually xbows bent over with their asses facing us), up through the slats of certain walkways, etc. There is no reason to have an additional 33% damage reduction on top of the 20% damage reduction it already had.

he means that for some reason legs get a strangely small amount of damage
ive heard from another thread its like a 50% reduction
I have fully loomed everything I use but my boots are still bog-standard.
With the new patch the damage to the legs is something within the range of 53-55% of the actual damage before the armour reduction anyway. On another point, you get leg armour from your body armour as well.
With my current armour, I get 10 from my body armour and 19 from the boots, that's 29, while my body armour is at 27+9=36 with only a damage percentage of 67. In effect, i've got about the same amount of leg armour, without looming my boots and having cheap ones (Rus Cav Boots) as I do with my fully loomed gloves and armour.
Personally, I don't believe it's particularly worth it due to the fact that your lower body is deemed less important than say, your spleen. I would, if you can really be bothered to get a fully loomed set of equipment, leg armour is only really worth it for cavalry, who are more than likely going to get their legs amputated at least once a map.
Leg armour for Rus Cav Boots would increase the armour from 19 to 23 (+1, +1, +2 afaik) a nice increase but fairly pointless for someone who tends not to get hit in the legs.
so in other words if you hit somebody in the chest its 100% but if you hit them in the legs for no real reason its cut in half
imo it should be buffed just like the head strikes are,HELL maybe even have to wear there is a chance of knockdown

To clarify what I said there, with regards to the amount of damage someone takes to the legs, the exact percentage is between the range I said, I couldn't remember at the time, basically it's what it was pre-patch * 0.67 (same percentage as the body hit but body damage was at 100% originally.)
I meant this as an archer, with regards to the most likely thing to aim at your legs if you were not a cavalryman, I should have stated that when I originally typed it, otherwise leg armour is reduced by only 20% I believe (80% damage) and that would mean that I would still have about the same amount of armour as body and legs despite having less numbers.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I didn't realise I missed that part out until I read it quoted here and thought I should make amends.

i c so its not as major as i thought it was
still personally i think there should be a bonus damage of some sort to legs just as there is to head

Feet recieve 100% damage as they are classed as part of the body on the skeleton model, rather than the leg.
Its like a reverse headshot?

So aim body or head ? There is reason - you should aim the correct body part. Last patch it was meaningless if you hit leg or body - now you feel difference and it's cool.

Why is there even a damage reduction anyway.
IRL if you got hit in the leg you would be screwed

The chances of an instant kill occuring via a wound to the legs are far less than one to the body, or the head.
