Title: Polearms with Sideswing.
Post by: MR_FISTA on February 01, 2012, 01:31:40 pm
I was wondering if anyone has a list of all the polearms you can swing in every direction rather than just the lolstab and overhead.

Need the longest most powerful polearm that I can do this with for my build, currently running with 36/3 11ps and it's working quite well using the Glaive atm, the only other alternative is my peasant loadout when I use the scythe.

Help is appreciated.

I know there was a thread somewhere with all the weapon names and the special things for them, f.e. if they had crushthrough/knockdown/unsheathable,  the weapon modes and if it applied what kind of different anims it used (f.e. the flamberge has polearm stab while it is 2h)

However, i don't know where it is :V

You already have the longest ones in Glaive and Scythe. Great Long Bardiche and Long Hafted Blade are other options.

Just use scythe. Megacheap and very effective with your PS.

Military Scythe is a pretty boss medium between Scythe and Glaive.

I was just interested whether there was anything with a little more power than the scythe as I'm trying to make the ultimate 1hit character.

Well Glaive.

You could also use Awlpike/Long Awlpike with über pierce damage, they're long but no sideswing.

As for side swinging polearm with good damage and range, go Poleaxe. Very high stab damage and decent swing.

God man. This just makes me weep for the death of the Long Voulge side swings.

Great Long Bardiche. 46c is unbeatable, the Flamberge has 46c too which is probably a little longer too due to it being a 2h although I´m not sure how that works with that weapon. It´s also not unbalanced so I would go with the Flamberge if I were you. Very slow weapon though, a glaive might be a better choice but that is not the ultimate 1 hit weapon.

Also try the bec. You'll have to block people once or twice, but 34p with high PS will 1 or 2-shot everybody, including tincans. Otherwise, I think the GLB is the best choice if you really want a long weapon.

Bec is a good choice like kaf said, 34p with high power strike is really good against anyone in armor.

Long Bardiche is pretty cheap and does 45c (I believe), but it's only 89 speed for 140 length.

The poleaxe or some of the other higher end poleaxes are really nice, but expensive and you give up damage compared to the long war axe or long bardiche.

Does the Great Long Bardiche still have sideswings?

The flamberge uses polearm animations for its thrust, left and over-head swings, actually.  It's not as long as you'd think.

Great Long Bardice is devastating with 36/3 :D
You will 1hit kill most peole,  even up to Heraldic Armor. The shieldbreaking ability is also very nice.
The Bec dé Corbin is too short since you are very limited with your low speed. Also watch for your sideswings...your team will hate you otherwise :D
Your greatest advantage is that you only need to land one hit, so if your opponents fail to block once they mostly drop dead. But don't expect too much in duels. Have fun playing executioner style ;)

36/3 GLB build is indeed fun, had one of those some months ago.

perhaps i shall be a punk and make my next build a mw glaive str

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 24
Agility: 12
Hit points: 75
Skills to attributes: 2
Ironflesh: 8
Power Strike: 8
Shield: 4
Athletics: 4
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 1
Weapon Master: 4
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 130
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 57

(had extra points so just threw in the throw fur de lulz)

you think a MW long espada/knightly heater shield build will work for this? glaive is too slow for my taste as of late

I would just do

24/15

8ps
8if
5ath
2shield

or 5if 5shield if doing long espada.
