Well... duuh. I don't know about abuse, but the game will definitely get at least a little more boring with this.
-
The I.S.P.C.A. would like to thank all of the 'No' voters and remind the 'Yes' voters that we have a pretty good idea who you are.

Admins should loose powers if 75% or more vote yes i'd say, i voted no for wooki, i dunno why people voted yes
-
That´s better , i think.
50% is too few % .... there are some people who vote just for fun yes , because someone writes it in the chat , that everyone should vote yes , or something ...
I think 75 % is better .... really ....
I didn´t vote yes or no for wookie , because i can´t remember any aboozing , or something ...
But i think 50 % is too low ...
Maybe Chaz can change it in the rulez ?
I have the feeling , that this votes are .... somehow ... undignified.
It has something bad .... pilloried ... , that you can vote if an admin must go , or not.
On the other side .... if many many many people say , that someone is doing something wrong all the time ..... like 75 % .... maybe it´s just true ....
And how should they make them a voice , that is heard ?
I don´t know the right way .... and i think it´s difficult to choose the right decision ...
Edit : Hm ..... now i have read many of the postings , in the wookie nomination phase-thread , that i haven´t read before .... maybe it´s a right decision , that he isn´t Admin anymore .... there were so many postings , that describe detailled aboozing .... maybe this is right ....
Only wanted to say that , even if i posted the other things above .... i don´t know ...
-
much more glitching
Wooki was kicking people for glitching? Well Glitching is allowed.
-
I still think it wasn't necessary to vote wooki off
Then learn from this.
The other vote was very close, too.
I voted for both of them, to not lose the admin status.
As we both know they were not as good as I am, but they were okay.
I think it would have "saved" Wooki when he just had said/ promised to stop those silly totally random map changes.
Actually you should have told him to stop it a long long time ago.
I think you should change your system a bit.
Longer voting time. Not everyone checks the forum twice a day.
Also, admins should get a warning, and players should get the time and chance to see if things improve or not.
Players who think the admin is okay dont vote at all, forget to vote, whatever.
The haters, however, trolls, ..., make sure to get their friends and their buddies and the friends pets to vote against the admin.
-
Agree with Michael. Some players play only maybe 1x per week or so. And might miss this out :P
Give it 7-8 days.
And if possible which it's not it would've been cool if only EU members could vote =)
-
Should we have a redo? I suppose maybe he should be given a second chance to right his wrongs?
-
Then this whole process would be pretty pointless. In fact, what's the point if the rules are changed if an admin gets voted out? Just keep them and close the admin abooze forum.
-
like any radical change to a system this shouldnt be left up to a 51% vote.
Removing an admin should be at least 1/3 or else its just the assholes who are boosting the vote
-
I think the prosess up to this poll have showen us some real weakness in this system. And instead of following rules mindlessly, we should adjust the rules to the situations.
I also agree with Xant, just close the admin abooze forum, it obiously dont work.
-
i kinda agree.
while he was up for vote he just played and didn't do any of the stuff he got nominated for.
i also think this forum should undergo some changes.
make it so people can only post in here but only admins can see the threads.
so you guys get feedback without it being picked apart by the whole community :)
-
Is wookie losing admin or this whole forum was a joke ? Nice trolling 10/10
-
pure win

And if it isn't 51% than it could just as easily be the assholes boosting the vote in the other direction. This is the point of a 51% vote. Think!

Really? An admin who never warns, and always bans immediately should be warned and not banned immediately? Naw, if you're gonna be a complete ass, you should expect it back. An immediate ban with no warnings fits way to perfectly to make the system any different.
-
Nomination might be done by players but the vote should be done by the orhers admins, like a disciplinary council.
Or this could be just a warning, then if admin continue he should lose admin's power.
Or, and that what i think, just remove the vote and admin abooze section. Let's admins do their job cos as much as players community grows as much griefers grow too.
-
Wookie gone?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This is bullshit.

yeah is sooo obviously not working that CASUALLY
all the admin that ended in a vote are AGAIN CASUALLY all the admin who used theyr power in unfair and not clear way..
i not see here 95% of the other admin who again CASUALLY not did mapchanges, strange bans, or create rule for justify theyr bans
-
Is wookie losing admin or this whole forum was a joke ? Nice trolling 10/10
no becouse he is payng something probably they gonna give him back roles. so if you pay basicly you are allowed to be a MORON
strange i read in the main page of crpg that the mod is free and that pay not give you extra bonus
-
I think it would have "saved" Wooki when he just had said/ promised to stop those silly totally random map changes.
sure after months of abuse. i not saw him give any chance to anyone to say sorry first than ban or kick from servers. why he should have the chance he never ever gived to anyone?
-
Now if you'd apply that to your admining, the complaints would probably go away.
considering he never ever applyed a rule, but invented his own for justify bans i find this HILARIOUS

Yeah bruce, d'ya mind? He was right on his way to a quadruple post... =(

Speaking from an admin perspective, one major flaw in the system is this:
People who specifically have a problem with a particular admin will ensure that they visit this section often, to make sure they get to vote when the vote comes up. People who don't cause problems, don't have problems with the admins, and generally approve of the admins behavior will likely not even be visiting these sections of the forums.
So asking for a vote in a section like this is very similar to going to a "Lesbians who hate men pep rally" and asking them if they want to vote this polite gentleman in the corner out of the building. You pretty much know the answer before the question is asked.
If you want this voting system to work, chadz, here is what you do:
1.) Set up a script on the web page that allows you(and only you) to insert an admins name to be voted on losing their admin status.
2.) When the time comes for a vote, anyone who logs into their cRPG character page HAS to vote in order to access their character page.
3.) Let voting last 7 days.
4.) Then you end up with a TRUE community consensus.
P.S. I'm one of the people who didn't have a problem with wooki, and so wasn't here when the vote occurred. I didn't even notice the vote thread until he was already voted out.
-
I think this "voting" thing you came up with was a terrible idea. Some people just feels like ruin things for everyone else and just vote "yes" even though they might have never seen that admin doing his job wrongfully. I'm so dissapointed. Wooki was a good admin.
-
well, i have barely ever been on EU servers, I dont know wooki at all. That being said... I think it is safe to say that a large amount of players have an issue with him (as evidenced by the votes). You can argue that those who voted yes are a bunch of trolls who got their friends to vote and so on, and that most players like him just fine and did not vote... it is true that the total number of votes are fairly low; however, if there really are over 100 different people who have enough of an issue with wooki that they dont trust him with admin, and if we assume most people who voted are fairly active... i think that is an overwhelmingly good reason to re-evaluate his position as an admin. i dont think removing his admin is the only possible solution, perhaps the results here is enough of a warning that he will reconsider his admin methods. at any rate... think of it like this... if there was a police officer, and we had a vote of whether or not he was abusing his power... if 20% of people said yes... i would want the higher ups to keep some really good tabs on the guy... if 50% said yes... there would obviously be a problem with the guy (though maybe a problem which could be solved without firing him). also, the other admin who was up for vote did not receive 51% votes despite being voted on at the same time.. that tells me that people are less worried about that admin than this one.
p.s. i didnt vote in either poll as i dont play EU..
p.p.s. heroin, your idea to force everyone to vote is not a good idea. if i were forced to vote in this poll i would have no relevant information to base my vote on... except maybe i could read the thread and see people complaining... and then maybe i would assume they were all legit and not whining, in which case i might vote yes. what might work better would be to have a link to the vote thread on the c-rpg character page, just to make sure people are aware of it.
-
To avoid low user activity (mean low activity of "normal" users) - just need to add those votes to character page.
Or, at least, add info about current polls to character page. Thats all.
-
if i were forced to vote in this poll i would have no relevant information to base my vote on... except maybe i could read the thread and see people complaining... and then maybe i would assume they were all legit and not whining, in which case i might vote yes.
This is acceptable, in my opinion. I read the thread prior to the vote happening. I read wooki's "defense" regarding his actions, and honestly, I have doubts as to whether or not my method would have altered the results of the vote. Wooki admitted to doing things that no admin should do(banning people for their opinions/attitudes/beliefs as expressed OUTSIDE of the game itself, thus outside of the "jurisdiction" of a game admin).
The objective of my method was to ensure that every active member of the community HAD to express an opinion, one way or another, based on the information available to them. Some might vote yes without even looking at the thread. Others may vote no without reading it. Either way, everyone would vote, and be made aware that their vote is effecting the community as a whole.
-
I don't know the admin involved, and I didn't vote so my opinion is largely irrelevant in this.
However...
Big respect+ for chadz. Don't think I've ever seen this level of commitment or fairness anywhere else online, ever. He introduced a democratic system for the players, and when they unknowingly voted off the admin who brought the cash, chadz didn't renege. He did not go back on his word. I think about other private servers and gaming communities I have been part of over the years and they were all driven by money, something which I feel shows through in the games. It's comforting to know that money is never going to ruin this. No donation will ever empower someone, that no advertising or item malls will ruin the experience, and no abusive admin or anyone else will ever be able to buy admin powers.
I think I will take a few temporary glitches over the constant threat of corruption or greed any day.
-
If 57% voted against wookie that must say something
The voting system is good and may help us keep admins on their toes.
Its clear now that they can't do everything they want without getting punished.
I was unhappy with wookie admin numerous times but couldn't do anything about it. Now I see there is a lot of people share same feeling. They wasn't as lazy as I was to start this voting off poll. He is a good player, but he shouldn't be admining. Too much personal preference involved.
I don't think people will visit this forum and vote Yes just for fun. This only happens in game when poll comes up every minute and you just click anything to get rid of it. (i hit 2 by default)
-
Wait for ptx vote to finish and we will know if this new rule is bullshit or not.
I'm most certain ptx will have many no but can't see till it's finished.
-
Ok explain to me how an admin can keep everyone happy all of the time?
We're gonna be going through many admins like this i think.
-

Well i'd assume that every admin will make a mistake, not everyone will ever like them and there will always be disputes. You'll just have to do your job, and when things come down to this, then the majority of people who will vote will have enough sense to decide if you really are a bad admin or if you've done your job, whether or not well.
Trust in the community! :S
-
Kick a guy for leeching/tking and you get a yes-vote. The guys who agree with the decision is happy and usually wont care to log on the forum to complain. That way you generate yes-votes each time you do something as an admin, being it correct or not. On the other hand, the no-votes needs to be worked for over time. That means, in my opinion, that every no-vote means a lot more than the yes votes.
Which means wooki is clearly on the positive side.
-
Well, Lilith, you're assuming everyone who voted "yes" had something bad done to them. Not true. You're also assuming everyone who voted "no" had a good reason for it. Hardly. It's a consistent theme in your posts regarding this subject - belittling the "yes" voters and being patronizing. While there's some truth in what you say and some of those who got kicked and rightly so, will vote "yes." But if you're generally a good admin you'll get more no votes.
I'm sure the poll results from pTx's nomination will be enlightening.
-
I am thinking about posting into ptx's thread, even if it gets me muted. Why does lilith have her alt listed in the thread name, while ptx doesn't?
-
Nemeth: Ive put em there myself. Lots of people dont mention their alts.
-
Yeah, but ptx is admining actively on Mr Awesome as well, and I'm quite sure there is a lot people who don't know it's him.
-
Well.. I think its honest to put all the alts there. On the other side, the idea of doing it didnt hit me before like 2 weeks ago.
I agree it would be preferable tho.
-
Ok explain to me how an admin can keep everyone happy all of the time?
We're gonna be going through many admins like this i think.
by logic random
i was recently banned by searider elrichson or whatever his name is spelled. but he got right. no bad blood from me, another things is being banned with no proof by an admin, like wooki, who banned me becouse someone whined about me on forums., withouth consider that previous than that incident not even existed a rule that forbidden the ppl to rush the other team.
another example of bad admins? since i flamed ats on forums i am banished since a month from all american server, NOT THAT I CARE becouse are usa server, but the point is such ppl NOT DESERVE OR HAVE THE QUALITYTO ADMIN, they are admin becouse they are payng for the server. doesnt matter how they are fair or reliable. they can pretty much do whatever they like
this is the main issue to run an unofficial game. every guy that can host a server, can afford to not follow general rules but make his own. if the majority are not happy? who cares he pay for the server you cant kick him from admin it. or he shut down the server
-
wooki get back on irc we still love you
-
Wooki! IRC NOW! Cmon dude!
-
lol, time for me to post.
tbh, im kinda happy about this. Also cool that almost 130 people voted to keep me, means at least some of the time I was a good admin :)
Got alot of stuff going on in my life with work and going to do my masters soon.
And with absolutely no offense meant to chadz, I have to say I actually got bored of cRPG at the end. It felt a lot like work, and to be honest, I've been much more productive and stuff since I stopped some time last week. I realized there were only 2 reasons I kept playing:
1. To level
2. To do admin stuff
This is not a good way to play a game and maybe it was because I was bored that I did stupid stuff.
I'm not gonna defend my actions, I was never the most serious of admins, I get that, but meh, if people can't take a joke, screw em.
Did I fuck up banning georges? Yeh I did, I had just come back from a long day of work at a job I love with a boss I hate and I had just ended things with a girl I started seeing (turned out she was a racist, and not even just the jokey kind, but just someone who hates foreigners). Georges acted like an asshole but still I overreacted and banned him on cRPG which I shouldn't have. The post I made afterwards was stupid too, but unfortunately I have to spend every weekday at least 7 hours sitting 3 meters from my boss, which I believe if I ever murdered him and presented one of his Meeting Agendas as evidence any judge would rule that self defense. :)
So yeh, I won't be playing cRPG for a while at least. I'll go play some other games and come back and maybe then I'll have fun again rather than it feeling like work.
In case anyone worries, yes, I'm still gonna send chadz the money to keep the servers running for three reasons:
1) My giving money was NEVER dependant on me getting admin. Anyone who thought so is just an asshole
2) I always try to support independant games/mods that I think improve a game.
3) When (It's a when, not an if, we all know cRPG is like crack) I come back, I would hope that cRPG is still running well and there will be lots of fun improvements.
So yeah, no GTX here, just time to try some different games (and maybe become a little more mature I guess ...)
P.S.: Anyone that said: "Wooki changes map when loosing!" Fuck you guys, I changed the map was it was shitty/imbalanced, even when imbalanced in my favour.
-
Seriously Wooki I never had any problems with you as admin, laughed about your jokes, and appreciated your being. So I'll miss you :|
Come back!
-
Playing the game just to be admin and leveling is wrong. You should play for fun, leveling is part of the grind to add longevity to the game, and being an admin is a service to the community people volunteer to do because they like doing that, not because it's fun.
-
Also quitting with a girl just because she's a racist is wrong. I personally quit if it turns out she is NOT a racist. :P
-
+1 to Wooki for taking this very gracefully and maturely.
-
+1 to Wooki for taking this very gracefully and maturely.
After this speech, i hope the Yes-voters will understand their mistake :-°
Sorry, i forgot to vote for this admin... i still think that giving players the right to remove admins is pure crap.
chadz, it's your role, yours, and other admins' role. Most of the players just can't be neutral. Particulary those that will come for voting.
For this reason, every time i'll come in this forum, i'll vote "No". No admin should lose his powers from a players'vote.
-
Most of the players just can't be neutral.
On the other hand, all admins in this game are players, and most of them(or mb all) are clan members, so in my opinion, some of them can't be neutral too  so this polls can shows who of them least neutral, imho
sorry for my English
