Best advice for archery = don't go archer.

Just kiddin' man.  In all seriousness, right now the faster the bow the better because all that matters is headshots.  I can take 3-4 arrows/bolts to the body, but one arrow to the head and I'm dead.  Pretty much always a one-shot no matter bow what hit me.

What he said, you have to dump as much wpf points in archery as you can. But its hard to score headshots with a longbow, so perhaps you want to go with a horn bow for now.

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp) Hornbow Build.

Strength: 15
Agility: 24
Hit points: 54
Skills to attributes: 8
Ironflesh: 2
Athletics: 8
Power Draw: 5
Weapon Master: 8
Archery: 172

This will be a good headshot build.

I wouldn't have 3WM as a starter. You cannot hit anyone with that. I use the same build currently with 6 WM and I put all the rest to IF (70 hitpoints). This way you can stay a little more alive and take a few more shots.

One last thing: shield for archer is not a good choice. Shields are heavy they will make you slower. As an archer you should keep your weight at minimum so that you'll have more mobility.

I think he is trying to tell you that what you did was a bit mean. But yeah guess more archers with shields will make me smile a bit more in game.

I saw GK_Elmer and Jackie as HA\1H. It's possible and can be very effective.

I'd go 21/18 for  7 PD and 6 athletics with a Rus or Yumi.  Quite honestly all the archers going for more WM and less PD are useless as archers dealing out little damage.  I get more headshots than they do with their little bows.

Two simple advices for archers (which many archers fail to follow):
1. Do not give melee players duels, specially not 2h players at the end of the round. Shoot them!
2. Don't stop and fight in melee. Keep running and shoot your enemy from a distance. You are an archer, remember?

An archer that fails his team by losing the round to a 2H player in a damn duel... I have no respect for those archers. They are not archers. They are noobs.
You are never forced to melee duel. The 2H players made their choice when they choosed to only be able to fight in melee.

Level 30 pure archer
If you go for a 2 slot bow (PD 6), you should get a 0 slot melee weapon without any melee proficiency.
Only get PS if you get points over and don't get IF as an archer unless you have nowhere else to put your skill points.

18/21
Health points:56
Power strike: 4
Power draw: 6
Athletics: 7
Weapon master: 7

or:

21/18
Health points:59
Power strike: 5
Power draw: 7
Athletics: 6
Weapon master: 6

or something different:

24/15 (I suggest no armour or very light armour for this one as you can't afford any athletics or weapon profiency penalties)
Health points:69
Power draw: 8
Athletics: 5
Weapon master: 5

Level 30 melee archer
If you go for a 1 slot bow (PD 5), you should get a 1 slot melee weapon (2h mace is the best choice imo).
Getting 50WPF in melee proficieny and some PS is really worth it.

15/21
Health points: 60
Iron flesh: 5
Power strike: 5
Power draw: 5
Athletics: 7
Weapon master: 7

18/18 master race
5 IF
6 powerstrike
6 power draw
6 athletics
6 weapon master

all proficiency in archery
1 conversion of 2 skill points

Good prof for accuracy, average speed, can fight back in melee and carry a 1 slot weapon while using a 1 slot bow and 2 quivers.

Why do  you need PS if you're an archer?  Does it affect archery?

Why do  you need PS if you're an archer?  Does it affect archery?

Unless you are working in an optimized team where you have dedicated bodyguards, it is highly recommended that your archer character can defend oneself in melee. Usually though in my experience most clans don't assign dedicated bodyguards (some do though, like DRZ or Fallen), and randomers are usually forced to be able to "lone wolf it" as pleb team mates are unreliable buggers.

In an organized team though, PS is not really needed, just something that you can block and backpeddle away with will do for worse-case scenarios.
