So, this is the build I've planned for level 30:
Strength: 15
Agility: 21
Hit points: 50
Skills to attributes: 2
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 5
Shield: 3
Athletics: 7
Riding: 7
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 7
One Handed: 126
Polearm: 125
Gear:
Some armour, mw italian sword, some rank 3 1 slot shield, heavy lance, arabian warhorse.
Flame on!

No need for polearm wpf.

No need for polearm wpf.
Break chance for weapons used with less than 100 wpf are considerably higher if I recall correctly. Since I don't want to go broke from bringing a lance, I thought I'd take some polearm wpf.

It's good. If you want to be light cav, this is a good light cav build.
-
You do have a good light cav build, but I like this for the courser because I'm a speed nut.
Celestial Wind
Attributes
Strength 15
Agility 27
Polearm 111
Power Strike 5
Shield 3
Riding 9
Weapon Master 0

I'd recommend 5-6 athletics and 4-5 shield skill. Also about 100 polearm and the rest 1h WPF.
-
I'd say get 1 or 2 more shield, a Rouncey, knightly heater / elite cavalry shield and a longer one handed sword, maybe Nordic Champions, Arabian Cavalry or Knightly arming. Also, you don't need that much athletics and I would recommend 2 or so ironflesh, I know it doesn't do very much and it is kinda noob but it helps.

You'd get broke beforehand from using an horse, not a valid excuse.

IRC if you have «melee» wpf, it works with any kind of melee weapon (in application to break chance only). So you can have 126 in 1H, and it will count as 126 wpf in polearm.

It does? Would love to have some confirmation on that.

if i have 156 in archery, it will come as 156 in one handed?

For melee weapons highest melee skill is chosen, so for example using a long spear with 1 polearm wpf while having 120 wpf in two handed uses the 120 wpf for breaking. For ranged this kind of mechanic isn't in effect, and bow breaking chance in determined by archery wpf etc.
Taken from game mechanic megathread, look at 'Maintenance'

Sweet, guess the polearm wpf isn't really needed then.
A slower heavy lance actually makes it easier to lance with.

Haha, yep. Seems weird though.

The only problem you'll have is with last second lancing. You will be too slow for that.

Who the fuck names a build "Celestial Wind."

Who the fuck names a build "Celestial Wind."
Me, obviously. Learn to fucking read.
Though, it was the name of the character, not the build, back when riding points above the prereq actually did noticable speed increases, and the courser was the formula 1 racecar rocket horse.

I like 4 shield (don't really need higher for cav if you use elite cav shield or knightly heater), level 3 shield is only for the "heater" shield, but it has a slow speed rating, so I wouldn't recommend using it (compared to 100+ with the 2 i mentioned). I think 7 riding is too much unless you're riding the arabian war horse.
Also 7 WM isn't that good. I'm level 30 with 6 WM and my skills are: 1h - 122/polearms - 115
I don't like having 5 PS either. If you only need 6 riding (for a courser, or 5 maybe) then go 18 or 15 agility.
I think this is the best build I've been able to come up with at level 30 for cav:
Strength: 18
Agility: 18
Hit points: 57
Skills to attributes: 2
Ironflesh: 2
Power Strike: 6
Shield: 4
Athletics: 5
Riding: 6
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 6
