Just a quick one. Do weapons in the game have a minimum range at which they are effective?
-
Yup. Melee weapons are more likely to glance the closer you get to an enemy, depending on its length.
Longer weapons are more likely to whiff at point blank ranges, as opposed to one handed weapons which don't whiff very often (with enough PS)

Ahh thnx. :D
Just wondered as grunts with farming implements strapped to long sticks seemed to be taking me out at kissing distance. I thought I might be hallucinating.
Oh well, adapt and survive

There is a silly way for longer weapons to not glance when face hugged you aim at their feet.
-
I have faced a couple of Dane Axes IRL. Once you close the gap they are generally FUBAR unless they pull a secondary.
More fool me for thinking it was the same in game. :P
Advice to self...run away untill born again hard. :D

It should work this way, but with many long hafted weapons, it doesn't.

Yeah it's one of my main gripes with this game.
-
With swings, aim at the feet. With thrusts, aim to the side and whip it around.
-
swings actually do not have a minimum range (which is bull shit) but are more prone to angle-damage reductions due to the swing center being closer to the swing target thus making any adjustment in angle reduce damage severely. Overheads are dependent on a sweet spot of distance that exists a click below their minimum range

swings actually do not have a minimum range (which is bull shit) but can glance if carried out carelessly. Overheads are dependent on a sweet spot of distance that exists a click below their minimum range. Thrusts need the target not to be touching the spear at it's ready position and not to be touched at the end of it's max range. Either will result in a mega stun that will kill you if the enemy is a spammer.
In theory if a weapon has enough damage it will never glance. The glance we know is just the effect of the weapon not being able to output over 4ish damage to the target. So that means that thrice heirloomed pikes with a user of 12 ps can (and often do) kill u at point blank range
