There should be special servers that change theme every week to break the monotonous trends of of Battle and Siege.
Every week the servers genre can be a new theme Medieval (Hundred Years War, Italian Warring States), Asian, Roman, Eastern.. Rules can exist to say what type of armor and weapons one is allowed to use.. For instance teams would be wearing the opposing respective equipment:
Medieval (England vs France): Western Armor.
Medieval (Italian Warring States): South European Armor, Papal clothing.
Asian: Samurai stuff.
Roman: Roman equipment (should be added) and barbarian equipment.
Eastern: Middle Eastern equipment
Crusades: Western Armor vs Eastern Armor.
Greek Wars (Spartans vs Persians): Naked hoplites vs eastern warriors.
Greek Wars (Spartans vs Athenians): Red hoplites vs blue hoplites.

The maps can also be relevant, like Siege of Orleans for Medieval, Siege of Jerusalem for Crusades, Asian rice paddy maps for Samurai Clan Wars... Forest battles for Romans where Romans would walk in with there shields holding off the barbarians.
Thermopylae for Spartans vs Persians.

I doubt it, if you look at the poll in suggestions asking for roman armor, theres a fair lot who want that kind of stuff.
I guess it wouldnt be full all the time but there would definately enough people online to play it.

I can only say for myself, but I would rather forget the normal battle servers and only play on the theme server, because it would be much easier for me to grind to 31 in a changing and exciting enviroment like that.

I think this is a very good idea and plenty of people would come to the server and play.
Why do people like the Crusades choice though?

Yeah, only problem is things like Romans against barbarians are pretty much not fun if you dont have the gear for the period, which we currently dont have in cRPG.

weekly -no, once in two weeks - possibility =).

A thing like this weekly takes quite some time to organize, so if you feel like doing it, do it. Don't expect others to. My experience with weekly events is that it doesn't keep people interested and dies after a few weeks. Once a month is better.

With the battlegroups system you can set up whatever battles you want :)

Why is that so important, lemme guess, you are from the Iberian Peninsula? Anyway, crusades Western armour vs Eastern armour sort off covers that. The Reconquista kinda being the first Crusade.

Yeah the Reconquista isnt that exciting because it has nothing special to offer compared to the other crusades for example.Its just Christians vs Muslims, and regarding that the other crusades are way more exciting.

HA HA HA, you are an ignorant arent you?. First it was no a crusade my friend. Then i must say that reconquista was as important for europe as when the greeks stoped the persians in the acient times my friend....

Luckily for us the battle-group system is out, and users can, without interference from the developers or the admins, make their own custom battles! Rejoice!
Now stop complaining and go set up an event!

So this battlegroups thing only works in private servers? I doub't normal battle servers people will do it.
What about having a server dedicated purely to bi-weekly themes?

EU8 is for this i think... Go check out the system, get a friend and do some testing.
