I had a battle scheduled for 5:00am EST this morning vs. Gearhardt. The site was shut down during the time the battle was up, and we were unable to connect to the database (even to spawn with our gear while we were waiting in duel). Now I see that not only did I lose the battle (and all my troops / most of my gear), I'm getting attacked again since I'm only 1 guy.
Is there any way to get that stuff back?

Can your clan can re-equip you? I know its a prick but you guys would have enough stuff floating around to do it. If you take a castle or 2 then you will have the cash. I'm pretty sure the 2 castles up north near TKoV/TKN both have over 90k.

That sucks ass. last time i was looting in strat I successfully looted 2 players and made it back into the town. after i was in the town and crafting again, I was still able to be attacked and had to defend myself (that really pissed me off).
And then for 2 hours leading up to the battle the website was down and I couldn't get anyone to sign up for my battle. I left work 2 hours early just to go into the pub server and recruit, but nobody could sign up until after my battle was over.
Neither of these bugs warranted any admin intervention, so you're most likely fucked.

Yeah, I kind of guessed. Luckily the cost of my army was basically a day of trade profit, so by the time I get back to LLJK territory there should be more than enough to re-equip.
