Title: RGL Error on creating shaders: Out of video memory!
Post by: Voso on January 20, 2012, 07:24:16 am
Hey there, just after I installed the last patch .261, though I only really played it once on .260, I have been crashing at the initial Warband loading screen where it says "Loading Setting Data".

I did a complete reinstall of warband and cRPG, I am still getting this error.

Sadly, I can't alt tab to see what the error says, but if I alt tab and look at the window bar I can see it says RGL Error, just not the exact one.

Finally managed to figure out what error I was getting exactly, "Error on creating shaders: Out of video memory!"

I have 8 gigs of ram, so I am a bit confused by this, I'm going to go about messing with my rgl_config file to try and get my game to run.

Here is my rgl_log:

} //Processing Ini File Finished
 Loading Music...
 Loading Textures...
 Finished Loading Textures...
 L8 Format is  supported
WARNING: UNABLE TO MAP GAME SCRIPT CODE:  game_get_skill_modifier_for_troop
 Loading Module...
 Loading item kinds...
 Loading dialogs...
 Loading mission templates...
 Loading party templates...
ERROR: Error on creating shaders: Out of video memory!

If anyone knows how to fix this, it'd be mucho appreciated.

Alright, I seemed to have fixed it by modifying my render_buffer_size in rgl_config.txt.

However, now I seem to have an ungodly amount of lag. My fps looks alright, at 80-90 most maps but it still feels very stuttery despite the fps counter telling me its running at 90 fps. My ping is also looking decent at 85, so it likely isn't that.

If anyone knows how I could optimize this, I'd be very grateful.
