Title: Your CRPG setup
Post by: MR_FISTA on January 18, 2012, 08:43:58 pm
Just interested how other people play CRPG, personally I run my laptop through my TV then use a wireless mouse and keyboard with headset combo, I did for a time use it on a HD Projector but I gave myself some serious neck strain doing that.

Just interested to see how most people play.

cRPG really isn't the high-def graphics that would convince me to put so much work to fabricate a good set-up for.

It's polished landscape mod, and dudes, it make your cpu walking on his knees. This fucking game is so badly optimized that this kind of graphic mod with all the highest seting will make you lag as hell on a modern config.

I have the same computer as you do. But I have to run it with low graphics because of some rare stutterings. Happens the same to you?

Wired Mouse. (No batteries)
Wired Keyboard. (No batteries)
Wired Headphones. (No batteries)
Uncomfortable chair. (I'm a fat ass and broke the other one)
A non-wood  PC. Much unlike most people here.
I play without a monitor.

Pretty standard except 19" CRT. 1152x864 @ 100 hertz :D. Never really wanted a LCD/TFT because I don't want 60 hertz, but been looking at the 120htz flat panels recently like the Benq XL2420T

G400 mouse (new MX518 replacement). Old Microsoft Natural keyboard. Core2 quad, 2 gigs ram etc

Believe me, 60hz lcd is nothing like 60hz on a crt.

I'm sure there are a lot of good 60 htz LCD's now, but I've always felt the CRT to do the job fine for me. I don't want ghosting, input lag and I definitely don't want to feel stuck with 60FPS. Your monitor will only reproduce the image at its max hertz, so no point having 100+ FPS if your refresh rate is at 60. Its especially noticeable in fast paced games.

On the other hand though it is getting annoying to have large black bands at the top and bottom of movies because nothing is 4:3 anymore, and you lose quite a bit of peripheral vision without widescreen. I've heard a lot of positive stuff about some 120 hertz LCD's and will be picking one up soon
