Title: Some newb questions about weapons & damage.
Post by: Sir_Hans on January 18, 2012, 07:20:42 pm
I had a few questions I was hoping to clear up...

1. I think I read that weapon weight affects knockdown chance. Will the difference in weight between a flanged mace and a warhammer (.5 difference) be very noticeable in terms of knockdown rate for 1h blunts?

2. Blunt is great vs tincans, slash is great vs peasants, but when do I switch to pierce? Say for example I'm using a military hammer, blunt w/ pierce secondary mode.

3. as a 1h'er are there any viable 2h weapons I can use w/ a shield or do they all receive heavy penalties when used with a shield? longsword for example.

4. Is there any thread I can find out which spears/2h'ers receive penalties with shield?

thanks in advanced!  :P

1. 2.475 percentile units, ie about 2.5 more knockdowns per 100 hits.
2. Secondary modes are crap, don't use them. I could explain the exact differences, but see the sticky game mechanic thread if you want them. Basically pierce and blunt are both about equal and cut is worse, but in many cases weapons with cut have other advantanges (higher length, more damage etc). The exact point at when cut becomes worse depends on other stats, but for 1h the blunt/pierce options are nearly always better in terms of damage - the swords just are long.
3. For 1h infantry I believe they are penalized enough to be worthless. For cavalry some of the longer ones might theoretically be interesting I suppose, but in general, no.
4. All of them.
