Compare the Arabian Arming Sword to one of the earliest swords. The only thing that is better on the Arabian is a tiny 6 reach. Worse damage and speed at MORE than double the cost.
Simple Nordic Sword (Cost 1994)
weapon length: 94
weight: 1.2
difficulty: 8
speed rating: 99
weapon length: 94
thrust damage: 21 pierce
swing damage: 28 cut
slots: 1
Arabian Arming Sword (Cost 4537)
weapon length: 100
weight: 1.5
difficulty: 12
speed rating: 98
thrust damage: 19 pierce
swing damage: 28 cut
slots: 1

The .3 added weight also makes it glance less. I'd say bump the pierce by 3.
-
Bump. I love the look of this sword, it'd be nice if there were a reason to take it out of its scabbard.
-
Compare it to the Italian Sword and things really get ugly.
Length is really given too much emphasis in 1h item balance, whereas polearms don't hardly give up anything for more length. Length on a 1h isn't nearly as important as 2h/pole anyway, since you have to block several times before swinging at any 2h/pole user regardless of which weapon you bring.
This is why I like the 1h axes. You give up some useless length for gobs more damage and shieldbreaking. Sword thrust is a godsend in big group fights though.

Longer 1hers out range some 2hers on the right swing [katana is an example, which is why I hate the nodachi, and I think the long sword too]. Length on 1her is one of the most important stats, weight probably being the other to avoid the weapon stun so you don't have to block twice as often, although the quick glance-over of the stats and prices made me go wtf

Beg to differ here, the 103 range on the long espada creates as much rage as the 1 hit kill stabs I do with it, so many people ask me for the range on the thing.
-
Just traded for a +3 Long Espada myself :D
It's like being a Hoplite, without sucking so much.

Idd, 1h stabs get a +61 length bonus due to anim. Compared to the pole +19 it makes the longer (99+) 1h outreach a Poleaxe stab.
EDIT: +19, not +17, my bad
-
But not the polearm + shield stab, IIRC thats the longest stab anim. 'Sides, I use the long espada and a pike, so I am rarely if ever outreached :P

No, the longest stab is the 2h, followed by the 1h.
2h +80, 1h +61, 1h pole +50, 2h pole +19
EDIT: Sorry for the mistake

I see, I knew the 2h stab was longer, but people seem to be rather bad at timing their 2h stab, or is it just taht 1h is that quick, either way I rarely get counter stabbed and I usually have the time to think ''fuck should have blocke-*hit*''

With a 1h, since your weapon is short and light you move faster than the average 2h/pole (assuming you don't carry a heavy-ass shield), granting you extra "reach".
Also, the 1h stab seems surprisingly quick, but I think the biggest pro is that people don't expect it to be all as long as it actually is.
-
Yeah since I have no shield and pretty much 164 reach with the long espada, I can pull weird stuff with the stab.

Should had seen me before i traded it...
Spartan jump thrust for the win.

6 reach is hardly a tiny difference, its the difference of being able to outreach the bulk of the 1h or be outreached.

Achilles stab from the Troy movie comes to mind.
