Title: [OUTDATED] NOMINATION RULES - READ BEFORE POSTING ANYTHING
Post by: chadz on February 24, 2011, 03:04:10 am
Disabled.

You will be muted unless you read this post carefully. This is not supposed to be a joke forum, it's a troll free zone.

We've been thinking for some time how to make a fair compromise between players and admins.

We hereby present you the admin abuse Forum.

These are the rules, they are STRICT, you WILL get warned, muted or banned for ignoring them!

A. Nomination Phase
The Nomination Phase looks like this: you accuse an admin (Official EU or Official NA only) of abuse of his in-game powers. You have to state the reason and bring some proof. Do this by posting a new thread with the name of the admin in the thread title. If me or cmp have the feeling that you are just joking around, there will be a mute incoming and your thread be deleted.

B. Nomination Phase, Part 2

Now you need people sharing your opinion on the abusing admin. You have to get 20 unique posters in here that share the dislike of the adminning action of above mentioned admin. They dont have to state a reason, it might help though. ONE POST ONLY, NO spam, NO chitter, also NO defending. Purely stating that you dislike admin actions. The only exception is the accused admin - he may post 1! post on his defense. No discussing of the topic. Also, if we get the feeling you are joking around, your post gets removed and you will get muted. If the required amount of posters is not reached in 5 days, the nomination fails.

C. Voting phase

When 20 posts are reached, a public, anonymous vote will be started, that will run for 72 hours. After that time, admin status will be removed if 51% or more voted on removing him.

Because this is a very delicate topic and new concept, I might change rules on the fly. I apologize for this dictatorship like behaviour, but it might be necessary.

--------------------------
2 extra rules:
You cannot nominate an admin until 48 hours after the incident.
After a failed nomination or a finished vote, the same admin cannot be nominated for another 30 days.

Proof that the EU servers are actually doing something to prevent their shitty admins. I wish NA was this progressive.

I'd start this for NA...buuuut our admins don't get paid...they get chosen. They can lose it just as easily as they got it. There was a time when admin complaints didn't exist...back before crpg had dipshits on na who thought it was funny to be racist/tk/pollspammers. Those were the days when there were only 4 admins instead of 14.

Kinda funny seeing people bitch about not being able to bitch about NA admins, yet I see no one stopping them from posting. At the same time this is a failed concept. All I see is trolls flocking to whine about admins they don't actually have any concern over just to see them stripped of their position.
Title: Re: IMPORTANT: How to get rid of a pesky admin (official EU only)
Post by: Gash on February 24, 2011, 05:21:34 am
I believe we have too many idiots and children in NA to use this function properly. The process itself would get abused.

It would have to be done through PM, not publicly on the forums. The smell of troll would just attract more trolls.

If you have a problem with a serious case of admin abuse, don't hesitate to send a PM.

Unfortunately, conspiracy theories don't make the cut.  Date and time so I can check the logs help.

I'll only start taking concern once I get enough PMs about the admin - I ain't losing sleep over this.

As mentioned before; play the game the way its meant to be played, help your team, remain civil in chat - and you'll be playing there uninterrupted. If you can't manage that, then expect some form of punishment - and don't come crying afterwards.

Ah so this is what it's all about  well then here I'll just post it here as well

I didn't know that being an admin is a popularity contest. In my experience usually the most hated admins are the ones that are doing their shit right. Keep up the good works.

Lol got watched >.<

After reading baltons (crappy) abuse trhead, i would lvoe if you could add one more rule to this forum:
Be 100% sure that the person you are accusing is actually the person who was aboosing.
If you didnt see him do it, none of your fellow players saw it and he didn't tell you, try sending him a PM asking him if he did it.
If he answers no, there's pretty much nothing you can do, as the risk of a false accuse is too high.

And so the cliques and trolls have a new land to lay waste to.  All trolling aside:

+1 to you chadz if this is an intentional plan, a new means of trolling on your part in order to gather the cliques and trolls together for future reference when needing to expose why their opinions cannot be taken as valid on a topic.

If this is a serious attempt however then all I can say is good luck.  I think you've already seen what the future holds:  1 member of a clan/clique makes a thread, every clanmate will +1 it.  Balton will +1 them all just because he's a fucktard and posts will need to be deleted liberally along with the handing out of mutes.  Good idea, bad community for it.  Still, good luck anyways.

I have administrated the servers in a most competent way for several months (most of the time).

This was in a time before your mommy bought you a computer, so you couldnt know. Now you do.

I retired because in my opinion something like this was missing.
I didnt want to be "god" on the servers because I got admin rights (by error).
Believe it or not, if you want to do it right, the administration is work you do in your free time and you dont get paid for it, at least not in cash or privileges. Your only payment is that the community appreciates your work.

Now its there, so I can retire from retirement.

When and if you or someone else thinks that I am not a good admin (any more), you now have this tool.

But in the meantime, I dont see why I shouldnt be back.

Not really, some +1 aren't enough. After hitting 15 the real voting to depose will start and then only clan members won't be sufficent.

krampe, faster.................................

You (Nemeth, and Joxer, too) have missunderstood this system.

STEP 1: Player P thinks Admin A is a bad admin and posts his reasons, for example A kicks/ bans ppl for no valid reasons, changes maps he doesnt like.....

then

STEP 2: other players with the same opinion about that admin support P

if its enough people

then

STEP 3: everyone can vote
more than 50 % support the admin, nothing happens,
otherwise admin status gets removed

I think thats a really nice idea.

When the majority of players feel the admin is not doing a good job, why would he want to invest his free time then?

When 20 posts are reached, a public, anonymous vote will be started, that will run for 72 hours. After that time, admin status will be removed if 50% or more voted on removing him.

I think within a community like this, that number can't be evaluated so easily.

Example:
Mister X goes against the rules, admin takes action. That player gets overly emotional and wonders "why meeeeeeee, the others did it too, rage threads incoming". So he does it, and gets his clan mates to support him, numbers go way up. Also, his usual friends come back him up, and forum/game trolls help aswell, more numbers, and so on.

The players should think with cold head that if those admins have been promoted has such by higher authorities in the game, it's because they somehow deserved it, nobody pointed a gun at chadz to make them admins (I think...), and some decisions, as rough they could be, had to be taken by someone.

I'm yet to see one of our admins take an action against the rules and principles ingame, so my opinion is this one.

It's easy to point fingers, it's hard to put yourselves in admin shoes and think a bit. I can say it with no problems, due to my administration experience in other games.

Just my 2cents, trollfirewood, call it whatever you want, I'll still stab you ingame for major laughs.

There needs to be another poll on nuffen/lilith, the amount of people his abuse pisses off is a bit insane and locking the poll/topic against him ought to get him kicked out anyway. The 30 day rule just protects poor Admins.

I for one am banned mhmm... 56 hours now for one tk after the round ended (equipment screen freeze)

(Or alternatively, for killing nuffen (on the enemy team) ingame?)

The thread was locked because the poll was long over and there was nothing left to talk about. Maybe you didn't notice, but all the other threads got the same treatment. Also, I'll let you in on a little secret: Lilith doesn't even have mod access on the forum. None of the game admins do.

JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS FTW AMIRITE

The 30 day rule just protects poor Admins.

Without it, the system would just turn into a parody of itself, with the same groups of malcontents constantly nominating the same admins. It's not surprising that, being one of those malcontents, you don't see the problem with this, but luckily chadz has slightly better judgement.

Because if an admin said otherwise about his avatar, then he would cry abuse? The clever devil was trying to set you up. I humbly suggest a blanket ban on his entire IP as suitable punishment.

Call me stupid, but what's a blanket ban?

Oh, back when I worked for swirve.com before Mehul sold it, we 'blacklisted' several parts of the world due to problems with hackers, and did "blanket bans." Basically a blanket ban is where you target an entire "something" and is typically an entire country. For example we did it to China (The website refused to interact and share any info with them) and a few other countries, as well as a particularly problamatic city from I think it was Brazil. A few companies still do this, but it used to be extremely popular a long while ago for many large-scale corporations as well as some small ones.

Edit: A current example I think is WoW blacklisting Russia I think, though that may have been temporary due to some security issue people were exploiting that started the whole thing. PokerStarz also does blanket bans, though I forget to whom... obviously there are ways around it though, and of course I said it earlier in jest.

Ohh k, that's what I sort of thought. We should blanket ban chicago and the surrounding areas until we get more diverse servers so people don't complain about "his ping is better than mine!"

I've got a question concerning the poll voting part of the system.

It's meant to be troll-save but if someone (particularly a whole clan) really wants to strip an admin from his job, he can vote with a lot of secondary nicks/alts (currently my memberlist shows 6300, I highly doubt, they are all different players, even with the inactive ones accounted for). And I guess it's more likely that people who want the admin to leave do that, than people who want to defend him.
It's a human notion to not care when times are good and get active if they feel mistreated.

Democracy can be seen as two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner.. ye more players who are agitated about the issues will vote and the normal guys not seeing problems may just abstain or not see it and go unnoticed, i'm sure ppl will just use just one vote though.

KGB will be putting a server up very soon (we have one up just waiting for cRPG approval) The server that we chose will be in Dallas Texas since most people have moved their servers to the Chicago area.

For those that do not know who we are. www.the-kgb.com can answer those questions for you as we are one of the oldest organizations in gaming.

I can say with 100% gratitude that cRPG has been one of the most fun games I have played in quite a while and my guildmates share this opinion. I talked 2 other guys into picking it up and trying it out with me and now we have roughly 15 with a lot more of my people promising to get Warband as soon as it goes on sale. So far the most off putting aspect of the game has been dealing with very shoddy admins on the NA side that just seem to do pretty much whatever they want when they want.

In some cases griefing and this new age trolling crap that people try to pull but let their clanmates and friends get away with is just way out of hand. We are looking to bring a veteran group of gamers and hopefully through our contacts in the industry broaden the playerbase in hopes that cRPG stays competitive and stays in place for a very long time.

Donk

Especially since there's the 48 hours rule.. There will be always someone forgetting that which leads to the fact that all admins are immune all the time.

@Nuffen: You weren't nominated because you forgot to unban him.. That would be really ridiculous.

exactly what kuku said, i am not mentioning this cause of the forgotten unban, i am mentioning this cause of the freaking reason for the ban

and the nomination was give as we were told we had to wait 2 days to make one, after most of us got warnings for posting in the unban thread, dunno why it took so long, but still, the point remains

@Nuffen: You weren't nominated because you forgot to unban him.. That would be really ridiculous.

That was the literal reason in the original post of why he nominated Nuff' and once it was resolved he took back his nomination. And yes, it was ridiculous.
