Title: An idea to stop kamikaze leechers
Post by: POOPHAMMER on February 23, 2011, 08:24:49 pm
I suggest, a change in the XP tick system where you get X amount of XP ticks while dead where as X is equal to the number you received while alive.

Someone who will rush right into battle to die while they do something else while they are dead (just to lvl up and get money when they dont want to play, these people exist), will get little to no XP. If they rush out and die before a minute, they get nothing. If they survive long enough for a tick, then they get one while dead. This may also help people actually think before they rush rabmo-style trying to kill everything they can.

This would also lead to a lot more camping.

Camping is a valid strategy. What is stopping them from doing it now?

Higher chance of having to repair something stops them.

I don't really see the point.  They will have to play the game eventually, or they will get bored and quit.  It will sort its self out.

Well Its not like they are going to be much XP and Gold. If they just charge and die at the beginning thats one easy kill for the other team and basically will help his team lose and he wont get any higher than x1

Camping is evil on battles, camping is good on sieges, conquest,CTF but not on battles. If campers win the round, its actualy happened because oponents were too bored to wait for the flag, not because they are great in tactics.

okay, then the team with the kamikaze leecher has an average multiplier of 2,12 instead of 2,14...

That does not make much difference.

I dont think leecher are the problem, but instead the xp/gold gaining system.

Good thought, bad idea.

I dont like this because you would effectively penalize WAY more people than just the Lamerkaze Leeches.  What about all of the people who get headshot by a thrower or archer or crossbowman 15 sec into the round.  They werent leeching, and yet there is no way to seperate them from the asshats who run in and die to soak XP.  There are FAR FAR more instances of this occurring than there are leechers.

Right now, I care about having fun, and getting a better multiplier.  that means team tactics and helping win.
If this were implemented, I would be more worried about staying alive, and would likely not engage much until at least half the round was over.  this would make all of the rounds last a lot longer, with far more chance to draw, as people care more about staying alive than winning.

What, who, when and why?

Besides if this is done, god forbid... what if you get hit by an xbowman in the head 10 seconds after round starts. It has happend to me and I've done it to others (At least thrice).

Indeed, I cringe everytime I play in the NA server where there is a map that has two sides facing each other, in LoS, and looks like a Caravan raid with a woody hill on one side and a mountain on the other. The instant I spawn I fire off an arrow and usually hit someone, and if it is a peasent then they die flat out. I even lucked out and headshot someone a few days ago in the first opening seconds (I kid you not, drew an arrow and let loose literally as fast as you can after spawn). Bad map design to allow such an initial fish-in-a-barrel chokepoint in the initial second with two sides that close to each other.

I suppose you would have everyone salute as well?
