So, something strange happened when I got the latest launcher. Previously I've been able to launch the launcher in Steam to get the overlay in game. Now after clicking play on the launcher my status in the friends window is switched from in-game to online (Therefore, no overlay). I would very much like to use the Steam Overlay for friends and web browser, but now I can't.
I currently play the non-steam version of Warband. Also, I would welcome any workarounds.

Why not use the Steam version of Warband? The Launcher.exe starts Warband from within Steam and you have the overlay there. You just have to start the Launcher from outside of Steam.

I didn't buy it on Steam, I bought it on Amazon, and it gives me a non Steam version. Therefore I am forced to run cRPGLauncher from Steam in hopes the overlay shows up.

Ah ok, have you tried registering Warband itself as non-Steam game? You then launch cRPG with the launcher (outside of Steam) that should launch Warband within Steam.

Even though it never was going to work, I tried it.
The Steam Overlay only runs when the game is launched from Steam, and in most cases, will carry over from launcher to game. Adding cRPG as a non-Steam game worked for previous versions, so I am asking the devs to restore this functionality, it's pretty much a requirement for me to have.
Fixing this is easy. All you have to do is download the Warband Script Enhancer (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=151194.0) and run the WSELoader.exe as a Non-Steam game. Now all I have to do is run the cRPG launcher every so often to check for updates, which isn't too hard. Since the Warband Script Enhancer is what is needed to run the game, not even the "Please use the Launcher" message pops up.
I am satisfied with this fix.
