Pretty obvious poll, do you use 1st or 3rd person view when you are lancing from horseback. I normally always use 1st person when going for the kill, that's not to say I don't zoom out to 3rd person quite a bit still, but when I'm actually thrusting I'm always in 1st person otherwise it's hard to see the tip of the lance (especially if you're on the left side of horse).
Don't get me started about round shields from horse and how it's basically impossible to see your lance when it's on the left side of your horse (in first person). In 3rd person it doesn't matter what shield you use, if the lance is on the left side of the horse, a lot of the time your body blocks the view of the lance.
Only other time I'm 1st person is when using archery or crossbows (and from horse I usually use 3rd person with them). Also if I use a 1h or 2h from horse I'm always in 3rd person. Only with lances am I in 1st person.
-
I'm always in third person, except for the rare occasion when I switch to first person on my archer or xbow alts. Even then, I only use first person when my target gets really close, or if I'm shooting near teammates who are close by.
-
I never use 1st person in M&B except in Mount&Musket for aiming 8-)
But I have to admit I have a hard time guessing if the lance will hit or not.
-
3rd person for scouting, riding in general.
1st person if i'm going for getting that hit with just the last pixel hitting the guy.
-
I had a suspicion the poll would look like this. I guess in the origin M&B I always lanced in first person from horse without even thinking about it (although I'm 3rd person on foot 100% of the time unless archer, and 3rd person from horse with 1h or 2h). I never even thought about it, just assumed most people used 1st person when lancing from horse. I still think it's way easier to get the timing and precise location of the hit in 1st person (only in this circumstance).

Same, besides you, me and my bro TommyHu, I think we're one of the very few who do. I'm really surprised, I don't know how people can lance thrust in 3rd person and be consistently accurate (with timing and lance positioning).

Agreed.
It's just that i always fail with the perfect hit :D.
And usually i never try to, since 1st person is a bit of a suicide with the 90 degrees FOV in a warzone. Only when it's really needed or if there is no threat that requires ~ looking.

1st if u wanna get blindsided.
3rd requires more situational awareness overall, and in turn more skill, yet once you learn it, cav becomes easy mode.

I used 1st person for precision strikes, and couch lancing back in the day.
It's very handy.

This is gonna blow your mind, you can swivel your view 360 degrees in first person. When riding around and scouting I'm in 3rd person usually, but eve in 1st person I rarely get t-boned without seeing it coming.

3rd person for everything here.

This is gonna blow your mind, panning view in 3rd person gives you a better picture of your surroundings than 1st

Obviously you have a greater field of vision in 3rd person...hence me scouting and generally riding around in 3rd person. That doesn't mean you can't "keep your head on a swivel" and still keep track of enemies in 1st person.
That's why I think the argument about better view in 3rd person is negated by better lance accuracy in 1st person.
-
1st person. But that's because I'm addicted to it because of horse archery. Archery in 3rd person is weird. Hell even in melee I use 1st person because I just can't get used to 3rd now. I do find it's far easier to get precise hits, but being caught from the sides can be a problem with lancing 1st person if you are in an intense fight. Don't have that issue so much with HA due to the fact I'm firing sideways most of the time, with HA usually the problem is running into something head on because I'm shooting sideways.

after playing cav for a while, 3rd > first. once you get a handle on where your lance will land you never miss.
only bad cav miss, and its hard to be bad cav becaus cav's OP an--

No wonders now why some cavalry guys seem BLIND .

3rd. It's harder to learn, but once you've learned it you've got an advantage.

3rd person. All the way. I don't even remember the key for switching.
