If you make an instant level 30 character and you decide you don't like it you should be able to delete it and remake another, without having to wait a whole week just to try a new build out.
Also 10k is crap make it 20k.
fix these things and a lot of people will play the mod more
-
I think a much better idea than ye olde days of deleting your main and sfting every 10mins would be to allow 1 free respec. So if you cock the build and want to do a minor adjustment or even a major one you can.
+1 to the 20k
-
I agree, whenever I make a STF character, I'm forced to buy the weapon I like, and not the armor, or vice versa, so it kinda takes the "fun" out of it. Unless, of course, you like dying in one or two hits or glancing.
+1

Do we really need levels anymore? Lets skip all that and have everyone start at level 30.
Then if you want the heirlooms all you will have to do is grind out the same amount of experience points that you would normally grind from 0 to level 31 for the heirloom. But at least you will be 30 the whole time and won't face all that frustration of leveling from 0 and trying to compete against people much higher in level then you.
So, basically you will make crpg friendlier to newbs remove much of the frustration of useless leveling and at the same time let the grinders keep grinding for looms.
-
To get lvl 30 char, you can choose "Skip the fun".
Get it?
Skip the fun?
The fun?
Already said too much, me thinks...

so, basically you will make crpg look like Native with some loom at the end. being hard is a part of c-rpg, like the satisfaction of winning in a so-called Underpowered class. when I was newb i was intimidated by all big god like blocker player, now i'm the so-called godlike blocker and I can't even say i'm the half of some player here. the difficulty is what make c-rpg attracting to a lot of player. I love when I kill a lvl 20 when lvl 2 same when i kill lvl35 with lvl 20. I like the way it is now (even if +1 for 20k and +1 for less cooldown, 4 days should be ok) if oyu want to have fun for a little: stf and enjoy, if you want loom: the hard way. so sorry I do not agree with you, if you want to stay lvl 30 for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time, just stf and enjoy! you won't have loom at the end, but loom are recompense for the grinding.
edit: i'm not the only one with same opinion I see... but i got wall of text you no :P

I am still not a fan of leveling up from 0 just for the privilege of getting a loom, I think that option should be open to everyone. As the mod stands now its very unfriendly to casual players, not only is the learning curve huge, a casual gamer has 2 basic unsavory choices to make.
1.) Take a long time to level up to where you can compete vs other players and get a heirloom
or
2.) "Skip the fun" but never get a heirloom so you will never truly be able to compete on level ground (advantage based on equipment) against guys who play this everyday.
Both are not great choices. My previous suggestion would eliminate the favoritism for non casual gamers.
But I understand your point about the greater level of challenge grinding from 0 to 31. I simply don't think most casual gamers would want to commit that much time and the other option "Skip the fun" would leave them always playing at a disadvantage.
I think given this setup most casual gamers will leave and find a friendlier game to play.
-
Casual gamers aren't very likely to get many looms anyway, and if you REALLY hate leveling, just don't retire your main and use gold to buy looms off the market. Personally I love being low level now and then, such a great feeling to kill someone at level 3 :P
Edit: Also, looms really don't give you that big of an advantage. They're nice sure but you can beat a full +3 with no looms if you're just slightly better.
-
If you make a skip the fun your main, you can use the marketplace, right? You therefore can get heirlooms from straight cash. Unless I'm wrong about making a skip the fun your main. I don't think that's a bad option for a casual player. It'll still take a long time to get one, but at least it's possible.
-
It doesn't take that long to reach a competitive level. In 10 hours you get way past level 20.
And looms are really not that important. They are just a gift for those who decided to go the long way.
But I agree that 10k gold is not enough. 20k should be fine.
Oh, and no, STF chars can't use the marketplace, so they will never get looms.
-
I don't mind the 20k suggestion, but the whole point of skip the fun is to test out builds. Getting to level 30 isn't really that hard. I only play 2-3 days a week and within a month I'm level 30 (probably was within 2 weeks).
And the reason they make STF a 1 week cool down period, is I'm assuming for people who use them as their mains and also play in strategus. That would allow someone to make a new build for every strategus battle.
-

No.
Skip the fun...
Requirements: only one character!
You can jump directly to level 30 and gain 10,000 gold. However, you will not gain any Experience any more - you will be stuck at this level. You also cannot trade in the marketplace. You can use this character as a main char, too, though. You can only use this on one character at a time. There is also a cooldown timer of 7 days.
-
10k is ludicrously low. 20k would be a lot better. The reason? Rouncey is like 9k already. I can't make a my old friendshit horsearcher or horsexbow stf alt without FARMING like 10k or so.
Though sure, it wouldn't take long to do that.

i don't think a lot of people like to grind from lvl 1 to 25, after that you can actually do something, before that, or atleast for me, it's walking in peasent clothes to save a bit of money for later and have ladders to help your team, and it does help your team, especially in siege, but it's not fun.
though if all that hard grinding is taken away, i wonder if being a higher level will still be fun. but i guess there's only way to find out...
-
go play native if u wanna change class every fucking minute

There is a really good mod that already does that called Mercenaries, you can also set stuff on fire. I don't think c-rpg really needs this.
-
The beauty and fun of cRPG is that it is a skill based game: A good player who is level 10 can beat a level 20-something. The heirlooms are really just a perk, not a game-changer at all.
+1 for the 20k STF idea and reduced cooldown
-
It suck so hard that skip the fun is only allow once a week.....................with only 10k amount of gold. THATS NOT FUN
