Hey guys. I just retired for the second time (Yay) and I have decided to try some pure polearm cav. I have brought a smexy looms courser but I have decoded to keep 300K to pay my upkeep. What I want is to know the Best polearm that I can use once I am on foot. Upkeep will not bother me at all. I'm tied between a bec, glaive, war axe, or one of the poleaxes.
-
Its all personal opinion my advise is buy each one and figure out what you like the most.
My personal favorites are german poleaxe, bec and, war axe but the elegant and normal poleaxe are also really good.
-
I've been polearmer for a very long time, and hands down, poleaxe is the best. That thrust and length is truly stunning.
-
Second post is correct. I tried most of them and the ones I like:
Iron Staff: Fast, KB, Cheap, but doesn't kill fast enough
Poleax/German Poleax: Pretty high all around damage, somewhat useful secondary modes, long for nonspears, expensive
Bardiche: High cut damage, weak stab
English Bill/Halbred: Long, super useful support weapons [Either anti armor or anti shield], pretty good duelish weapons, weak vs multiple opponents [since no side-strikes], somewhat easy to chamber against

Get a glaive an embrace the power of the S key while you work your glaive like a electric lawnmower chopping an polestaggering your enemy to peices....
Lame you say :?: well everyone is a S key hero today might aswell join em
-
The Long Bardiche is most definitely worth your attention. Extremely economical, especially when considering its hard-hitting nature.
-
Been experimenting and am Luvvin the glaive and the poleaxe AND the bec. I really just pick one depending on my mood. I am lookIng for a loomed one and anyone will do.
-
Spear.
-
Poleaxe

I think for your money the long bardiche (17 difficulty) and the long war axe (15 difficulty) are your best bet. Don't get me wrong, the 3 poleaxes are nice weapons and have a good balance of pierce and cutting damage (pretty high pierce numbers). But the speed and length aren't really superior to the ones I like. You basically just don't use the pierce or blunt of these weapons, and the main cut damage is higher than the poleaxes.
Weapon: Speed/Length - Damage - Price
Long Bardiche: 89/140 - 18p/45c - 6,934
Long War Axe: 92/120 - 16b/44c - 9,909
Poleaxe: 89/141 - 31p/41c - 14,470
German Poleaxe: 90/131 - 29p/42c - 15,061
Elegant Poleaxe: 92/132 - 26p/39c - 15,634
Personally I think the elegant poleaxe would be the best overall weapon, but not when you factor in the price. I usually roll around with my long war axe or a red tassel spear when I'm infantry (along with a shield and a 1h).

Bec.
The fact that you need a backup weapon on horseback attests to your style, and to some degree, your level of skill.
Since the chances that you are dismounted are going to be pretty high, means that you'll be going down amid a horde of bloodthirsty, red visioned enemies that are ready to rip you a new one.
The Bec is a high damage, low range weapon that will drop the people closest to your dead-ass-in-waiting, giving you some time to think and assess your dismal situation.
Longer weapons will catch on the swings, and pretty much put you down asap.
I'm against the Glaive because of its speed (or lack thereof). If anything, the Shortened War Spear will be a good choice, given it's obscene speed.
-
War spear. Hands down. All these scrubs are High Str Armor crutching noobs :D

I mean more about using sommin when either i am not mounted, or when my horse dies say when i am away from a pack of enemies. If i drop ifront of a horde off enemies i really dont care about my weapon tbh. Imma spam and try to find my maties.

All that theory doesn't work ingame as much as you'd think. Testing what suits you better ingame is what you need to do IMO.

Hmm. Tbh although i think that poleaxe has better stats, my fav one seems to be the glaive. It seems quicker than it is said to be, and the exta length definately helps me. Being a glaive troll is fun.

I've found the english bill to be very fun and effective--lots of pierce damage, and reach. The long spear is also an amazing weapon; surprisingly lulzy and effective in a duel. The above very much require good athletics though, in my experience, particularly the long spear.
If you're a really good manual blocker I'd go for the war spear. It's so fucking fast, and stunny, and does pierce damage with the thrust (blunt on the swings means a low chance of glancing on armor). Somebody in Chaos uses the war spear--I forget who--and I dare say watching him fuck literally everybody with that thing is orgasmic.
Bec for close range, tin can-opening madness. Good in a cluster fuck.
Hands down, the most ENJOYABLE polearm is the long maul. I just can't help but laugh hysterically on those rare occasions when I suit up in full plate and clutch with my unstoppable overhead spam. Few things in cRPG are as satisfying as beating a horse to death with a giant fucking hammer, or KOing four people in a row without pausing to even think. Shielders will flee before your crush through, and your team will love you for this.

long maul with 42 str and 14 ps... even with 1 wpf it was soooooooooooooooo fun!! nothing oculd resist my ct and all the poke i landed resulted in a knockdown... sweet memories... also i LOVED the spear with my 39/3 built,,, soooo polestaggering!
-
You're thinking of BigSandwich, as well as Hannibal (possibly), and then Beeper uses either a Spear or a War spear. ON and OFF horseback, I'm still saying that War spear, hands down.

dont miss the LHB just a nice weapon of mass destruction

Yes, the long hafted blade is a great choice. Slightly shorter than the glaive, but also faster! And you can use it on horseback, in case you fall off your horse but salvage another at least you have your LHB!
-
Id say Poleaxe, Ive been pure Poleare/cav since Gen 2 and I think the Poleaxe is deffo a great polearm good range, has blunt dam now for tincans axe is good for shielders. Gratned its not the fastest or longest polearm out there but Id say its a dammed good all rounder I have a fully lommed one and I use it 24/7
Fully loomed ones stats
weight: 3.4
difficulty: 17
speed rating: 90
weapon length: 141
thrust damage: 33 pierce
swing damage: 43 cut
slots: 2
Can't use on horseback
Bonus against Shield
Secondary Mode
Swing damage: 29 Blunt
Thrust damage: 33 pierce
speed 86
Length 141
As i said I think its one of the best all rounder polearms blunt for is good for tincans (axe end is just as good) Axe for shields, fair speed, good length, and knockdown
-
Although I did say poleaxe at first, German poleaxe is about as good, but looks more badass. And the long maul is utterly shite, they need to buff that thing. Now that I've gone polearms the only thing I really miss is trolling on siege with the great maul. The long maul is severly underpowered compared to the great maul.
10 less speed, 6 less blunt damage, and all that for the length of 128, which isn't that useful because it's quite hard to time it right due to the slow nature of the weapon. Oh and 1 less weight.

Why the fuck is this weapon so fast? Really an inconsistency in weapon speed rating and ingame speed, together with the glaive. Pretty weak though.

i'm on na :P
also i used to take a shortened spear spears as a duel wep

I like long war axe,good dmg,speed is ok,repairs cost is 600gold.
hafted blade is also nice, longer, less dmg,but faster.
great long axe i never tried it,but i saw very good players using it. I will probably loom it,i need 800k to lvl 31 and i want to use polearms in next gen.
german poleaxe is also nice, fast, nice dmg.
try some of this polearms, ans find what you like.
