Title: 1h weapon help
Post by: SirProto on December 28, 2011, 08:12:36 pm
So this will be my build for a hit and run kind of shielder with really low weight and I'm unsure of which weapon to use.

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

    Strength: 12
    Agility: 24

    Skills to attributes: 2

    Ironflesh: 1
    Power Strike: 4
    Shield: 8
    Athletics: 8
    Weapon Master: 8

    One Handed: 172

Any opinions?

Try the mace, knockdown is underestimated, aids both killing and fleeing.

Any pierce or blunt 1h.

Also try the scottish sword and watch the confusion when the enemy doesn't see you swinging at all.

Pretty much what Kafein said. That or one of the higher tier stabbing swords will help you net some damage whilst keeping sufficient speed.

I would for for a bit more Iron flesh. Also use a fast shield, the elite cav shield be a good one for this build

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)
Strength: 12
Agility: 24
Hit points: 53
Skills to attributes: 2

Ironflesh: 3
Power Strike: 4
Shield: 6
Athletics: 8

Weapon Master: 8
One Handed: 172

long dagger is zeh best imo with steel shield and 8 shield skillz people will understimate you and you will enjoy those kill!

but in your suggestion: winged mace because of it random  swing power and because people tend to understimate his speed.

Why would you hit and run? This isn't a driveby shooting game. Cheap build. stand and fight boy!!!!

The only thing I'm worried about with the swords is bouncing because of my low PS D:

Experience:
I've been a 1h + thrower for quite some time now. Putting wpf into 2 different places means automatically that you need lots of agility and weapon master and therefore will have less power strike. So for me, a masterwork long espada eslavona proved to be (nearly) useless. Swings glance on the heavy armor that most players wear and thrusts that in theory should make the sword extremely powerly didn't do as promised and glanced a lot as well.

Advice:
So my advice is this: If you're going for a strength build with a lot PS, you can safely pick a sword with a decent weapon length. But for agility builds, I'd pick a weapon with blunt or pierce on swings to get just a decent damage output. Don't worry about the short length of these weapons, your athletics should be quite able to guard you against kicks and you can quickly get into melee against backtracking long 2h and polearm users.

My winged mace has been working out pretty well at the moment, I've even been dehorsing cav by myself with it!

My opinion:

Lvl 30

Str: 12
Agi: 30

PS: 4
Shield: 3
Ath: 10

That is if you actually intend to play "hit 'n' run", can manually block at least one or two attacks in succession, and deal with a slightly slower weapon. If you want the shield to last a little longer and maybe put some points into IF or WM you could drop agility down to 27 but I personally think the agility and athletics itself will save you more then a more durable shield and a few more hit points or weapon proficiency.
