Title: Xmas day attacks!
Post by: Lorenzo_of_Iberia on December 24, 2011, 06:52:53 pm
So I wonder if it would be possible for all attackers who have made attacks on xmas day postponed to maybe the 27th or some date where players who want to have xmas day to their families can actually turn up. These attacks are just bad sportsmanship.

Could it be that devs can postpone them for a few days or rather just make attackers auto lose. Ofc that is if the devs / public agree that xmas day is an out of order day to make an assault as it is clearly using the fact that no one is about to defend on xmas day to skip nasty and what would be good battles.

Thank you for your time :)

the poll is not giving good options at all, i mean, its war, what would you expect? and anw if you attack on russian holiday, they are many, so it wont matter, i guess they will be able to bring enuff ppl

Douche move. I say auto lose for attackers. Seriously you attack on a day where most of us are going to be spending time with family and it would just be plain wrong to leave for a strat battle?

Dick move indeed.

This isnt war Cepeshi... Its a game. I know some people would rather live in strategus than in the real world but this is just a game.

Game is something you play for fun, this army of mine was built so I could have fun fighting someone with it. DRZ would rather not play for fun but rather remove other peoples fun because being masters of strategus seems to be not a casual game but rather a need here :P It is guys who take the game too seriously that ruin it for everyone else.

Yeah, it sucks for the majority, but still, for instance, i am sitting at work 2pm till 10pm, so no family, no dinner, no gifts, no nothing

I can understand your frustration, but you cannot expect whole world to stop cause you want to get stuffed and unwrap some presents :)

Actually, you can. It is called common sense and decency. Still not quite extinct in the modern world, y'know.

Obviously extinct in Russia

Indeed. Respecting other peoples holidays (especially huge ones such as this) is simply the decent thing to do. If we attacked the Russians and it happened to be on some holiday where the vast majority of them would not be available as a result, I would withdraw the attack.

And working Cepeshi is different. My sister used to work all of Christmas Day for several years. But strategus is not work. It's a game, thus you are not really obligated to do it on Christmas Day.

The best option for the future would just be to suspend Strat over Christmas and new year.

Bit late now for this year but a 2 week break from the 23rd Dec to the 7th Jan would stop all this and give everybody a bit of respite.

Funny cause the whole world mostly does stop for a day for the majority :P Its pretty much considered a world wide holiday where very few people dont have anything to do. I am sorry you are working at xmas but the majority of this community will be celebrating christmas day and generally not giving a fuck about anything else :P

No need to be sorry for me, 4th year in a row while i serve thru xmas, but i do not mind :) I can have nice time with my family any other day, but with all the shops opened  haha yeah, tru, they are bunch of bad ugly russians who does not like celebrating our xmases and stuff, bleh...

Moreover I guess we should take it as a complement :P

They clearly dont have faith in their 250 heavily armed troops when fighting 150 armed GK troops when fighting a fair fight ;)

Ah well our swarm of cavalry would overwhelm them in a fair fight :P

Must say, this is pretty much the final straw for this strat for me if this goes through. Dick moves/bugs/lack of horses (till recently) has just finished it for me.

Well, for us in Czech republic we have the xmas eve 24th, with the gifts and dinners and such :) I believe it is similar to most of mid europe countries, but i do not mind being corrected.

If you using christmas hols as safe time to move around the map or move reinforcements - this is not going to work.
Why didn't you just stay in HRE village over holidays? :)

i mean, its war

NO, its not war, its a wargame. For a game to be played you need 2 sides fighting each other. If there is only 1 side, there is no game.

This is by far the most dickless move i've ever seen in an online-game. I am honestly disgusted by this community who would indeed kill and rape their own mother to take a fief from an opposing faction.

I think you are now blaming the mercs for not rolling over and die by keeping the bug-won-gear and thus delay their demise. You would do the same if you were cornered by 3 major clans...
Just be patient, you will route them off the map, just don't do it on Christmas...

No it is not quite snuffed out yet. Just not yet.

This should be expected though from DRZ, as they have a history of being archers, a dick move in itself.

One thing is certain: It's certainly extinct (or never existed) in Russia.

My advice is just drop Strategus and cRPG all together and brave the real world, as it is much more fulfilling for your social cravings than sitting in front of a screen in a dark room (I am speaking from experience.)

Well gentlemen, I'm off to spend the day with my family, Merry Christmas!

I agree 100% with the sentiments expressed by the OP and the crying mercs, it is clearly wrong to play a game when you want to play it. However I also feel it is immoral not to support all countries and all world religions equally, thus I suggest in the spirit of equality, fairness and Christmas spirit this movement for greater sportsmanship and super fun times.

I hereby demand that all national holidays around the world cause strategus to become frozen and or attacks to auto lose in the event of them being made.

Please refer to this list of national holidays around the globe:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_holidays_by_country

I also demand that all religious holidays be recognised and offered the same protection:

For me the main Christmas holiday is 24th and I'm generally away from my proper gaming computer for at least a week, qq, make anything I would participate not happen during that.

Seriously, sure, it's kind of foul play to attack another group of players that has a big holiday when you don't, but such is life. If you want to start taking into account times when considerable amounts of playerbase have big holidays you'll have a huge list of stuff like that. Midsummer is big thing in Finland and probably some other European countries. Thanksgiving is big in the US (and Canada, no clue?) but isn't celebarated in Europe.

Easiest way to deal with this is to either a) prepare for things like this with a diverse playerbase (even if current NA-EU split makes having a clan with both continents represented worse than before) b) just strike those who do this on their holidays. The Orthodox holidays follow Julian calendar while most of Europe and US follow Gregorian calendar so the (religious) holidays tend to be on different dates anyway.

All the big clans are just going to have to have a duty roster to cover all contingencies.  The junior guys get Christmas and holidays.  Sux to play strat 24/7/365.
