Title: What are the numbers?
Post by: Cepeshi on December 22, 2011, 12:09:08 pm
Hey guys,
finally i took the effort to create this lovely forumpost about thing that was dazzling my mind since i started playing...after each round ends, there is the red text showing: Your team xxxxx enemy team yyyyy, what does those number mean?

Anyone knows? And if so, care to share?

It is quite obvious that it decides if you get a multiplier or not, hence the message that shows up when there aren't enough players, or it says the points are equal.

Must be related to the amount of players, and team performance somehow.

I always thought it was the total wins a team had gotten  :|

I thought it was related to the total damage/kills by the team, but sometimes (in empty servers 1v1 or 3v1) it is -1. So, would like an answer.

Pretty sure it's the combined player value of each team.
Not exactly sure what determines that value for each individual player though.

Mine is over9000. Which is why i always get balanced in a team with the -1s and lose rounds :(

Hair color and beard density. Extra points for beardy pink men.

Probably calculates your lvl, what gear you have on, maybe some extra points for looms/generation etc

Im just guessing tho i have no idea what it realy counts

It's probably

- player level/attribute points/skill points/WPF points spent
- equipped item value
- kill/death - ratio
- the class of each player, if being infantry, ranged or cavalry
- the generation of each player

and this is being used to calculate the teams as equal as possible.

And after this is done, banner balancing rounds out the balance. That's where the completely fair matches and missing rape rounds origin from.

If I had to guess I'd say it probably has to do with balancing teams like people have suggested (and probably takes a lot of variables into account, such as k:d, equipment used (to determine class, and how powerful your armor and weaps are).

But in my mind I just always assume it's how much upkeep cost each team was hit with at the end of the round :P

I think this might be too complex for me to believe it, but perhaps some of the values are measured.

For sure it is the result of the autobalancers calculations. I bet it is 3 values:

Player levels
Players historical K:D ratio
Players Kills for the round

IDK how these are weighted in the formula however. But the autobalancer tries to even out the teams, and it has a tendency to start shifting the heaviest (in terms of the above numbers) players first. That's why top players on a team more often get's shifted to the other team.

Could be wrong of course.

It could be that you only got the impression it works this way, because you do notice it on the scoreboard when a top player gets shifted, unlike a mediocre or bad player. Because it could be that the balancer just shifts the playeer who gets the closest to the value the balancer wants him to shift. Of course it will not destroy clanplayer stacks of one team, unless it has no other choice.

Well true, but from speaking to frequent top scoring players and my own experience since I top once in a while it seems to be like that. It also makes sense from a mathematical point of view. It's not cool to be shifted so it's the easiest way to shift as few as possible.
