Title: Forgive or forget?
Post by: Tristan on February 19, 2011, 03:09:24 am
'ello

So I was playing DoD (Day of Defeat source) with friendly fire on. They had this smart system, that if someone tk'ed you, you had the option of forgive or not forgive. Is a player was not forgiven after three or four tk's he would be banned for an hour.

Implement y/y?

thats intuitive, but trolls can jump into a persons swing and not forgive him, and ban him.

But, a friandly damage calculator can be implented, example: 600 friendly damage in 1 day= a 1 day ban   800 friendly damage in 1 day= 5 day ban
1,000 friendly damage in 1 day(impossible if accidental) = perma ban. thats fullproof

You will find that most people will forgive.  because 90% of them are unintentional.  and yeah, this will really only affect the intentional tk'ers.  as for trolling...  thats what admins are for.  you cant put a system in place to prevent trolling.  its impossible.  the vote just help supress the tk's intentional or not.  and having to sit out a round, SUCKS.  so its a good idea.

Bad idea, griefing trolls will try to make you kill them either by team damaging incessively or griefing you in  some other way, thereby forcing you to kill said troll, playing right into the trolls game of ultimatically trolling you when you get banned for tking.

More vigilance amongst admins ftw
