In my build planning i've reached a crossroads, at level 30 I would have 5 extra points left over. My two main choices choices in this would be to dump them all into IF or put 4 into shield for the spamscarl. Both increase survival greatly and I just can't decide. Or I could do something like put a point into riding and get the mule-- er I mean sumpter horse to cart me around.
These five points may seem incredibly trivial to you but i'd really appreciate an opinion from you fellow jerkassthrowers/melee hybrids.
For reference, my build looks like this:
Str: 24
Agi: 12
PS: 8
PT: 8
ATH: 4
WM: 4
All weapon prof dumped into polearms.

It all depends how you play it , obviously...
If you go 1h , go Shield , if you go 2h, go IF or convert and try to get higher PS/PT.
I play it 4shield 1 IF but it's my own build , you do your own the way you like it

If you already have 100% into polearm why not put 4 points into riding?
-
you're best bet is prob shield 4IF not gonna save you against much, a huscarl on the otherhand can keep you alive for a long time on its own yea you'll lose a slot for throwing weps, but gain a lot of survivability when stood back throwing from other ranged, take a weapon like warspear and you got a weapon you can use with and without shield well, even if you go 2handed polearm shield will serve you well while throwing.

If you are already set on the stats you posted, you really only have two viable options. Shield or riding. 5 in iron flesh is a waste. That skill is an all or nothing skill. 5 riding gets you all but the two top horses plus it naturally works with your polearm skill. 5 shield gets you the huscarl, which is apparently the best. I don't use shields so I have no idea.
Shield good: block projectiles, cheap repairs
Shield bad: can't use a melee weapon, lose a throwing slot
Riding good: mow down infantry, complements polearms
Riding bad: expensive, can't use every round, hated(targeted) by all

When you have 5 leftover skill points at lvl 30 then you have made bad build. I would retire asap if i were you...

Put it all in Powerdraw and delete your character.

Horse archery affects throwing?

Horse archery affects throwing?
If you are on a horse it does.
Oh and to the maker of this thread, don't put 0 wpp in throwing for the sake of my own sanity. Put 50 points at least, after that it cots two per but you get a huge return and marginally lower pole arm wpf for what you invested.
I always put 75 wpf in throwing.
Oh, and braeden is right about the horse throwing. Do that OR get a shield, nothing else is actually viable.

Do this. Then play the annoying skirmisher that is always first behind enemy lines and shoots down peasants.
Definately take riding, though, it works well with a glaive or long hafted blade if you go for the weaker targets.

WPF gives a significant bonus to damage, so if you are serious about throwing then there's absolutely no reason to not put some into throwing. 50 points of throwing will only cost you like 10 points out of your polearm WPF and give you a damage bonus roughly comparable to 1 extra PT.
For those 5 skill points, I'd do 2 shield and 3 riding. You can manage both a shield and horse worth using.

Wait until 31, convert 4 into str, and get 9 PS/ 9 PT. Never too much of a good thing.
