how much is the upkeep at the moment, i've been away for a while so I lost track of things.

how's everyone keeping gold while they are irding cata's all the time?

Either cheap armour (for example horse archers on catas) to make them hard to shoot down, or... well... they don't. They constantly lose money, but can afford several generations through selling a heirloomed item.

They get loans from the mafia, and then, after some weeks, they disappear.

Lot of people ask this.

Let me tell you, it's rather simple: Gold reserves.

Stack up 50-80k in light gear, then you'll be able to maintain high-end stuff, if you are decent at the game, and not getting x1 all the time.
