I thoroughly enjoy throwing a spear into someone's face, but 2h agi spammers are starting to make me regret my thrower build. Is there an up to date guide on throwing builds, tactics and gear?

No.

Yes.
Heres the short of it:
Stick with the mob. Use very light armor, no shield, and be ready to run/ fall back. Throw your shit in direction of the enemy mob, before the groups clash together. Then fall back and let the melee warriors do their thing. Dont get caught in melee, dont throw into melee fights. You also can go with crossbowmen or archers even, and help them to dehorse cavalry.
Target slow, heavy 2h/polearm beasts. This way you can stick with a competent shielder as well.
Understand that a thrower is not a one man show, its a support unit like pikemen.

21/18
lvl 31
7pt
7ps
6ath
6wm
longsword and jarids
In melee you are like any 21/18 2hander, but you can always just take some distance and toss a jarid into your opponents face.

Xcuse me for using this thread for this but I got a throwing related question.
When using Throwing Spears/Jarids and use them in secondary mode are they counted as polearms? If yes, couldnt I just go Pole/Throwing and have 4 slots with Throwing Spears/Jarids and just use the last one as a melee weapon? That is, if these are any good as melee weapon. Would be lots of ammo...
Got almost no experience as a thrower but this just came to my mind...

I only use the 2ndary mode for emergency blocking. Also the reach for polemode is quite fucked up.
Jarids:
16c as swing damage
20p as thrust damage
speed 93
Throwing lances:
16b as swing damage
26p as thrust damage
speed 102
In my opinion, the only throwing weapon useable in melee are Heavy Throwing Axe. They have 93 speed and 32c damage, so with some power strike you will be able to harn your opponent. And at least the act like normal melee weapons when used in 1handed mode, unlike those used in polemode. Still, they are no match for a normal 1handed weapon.

Throwing is awesome because it has its own memory minigame. Always try to remember where your missed shots went to pick them up later. Jump throws with their vertical trajectory component are helpful to prevent wild, unrecoverable misses. It's usually a good idea to stick to a big, advancing mob where you can pick up your stuff more likely than with throwing while retreating.

As a side arm, I suggest the 2h mace, or the 1h fighting axe, military sickle or langes messer in x-mode (2h). Any other 1h in 1h mode will also do, I guess. Or, as mentioned, use throwing axes, which work okay in 1h, albeit being a bit short.

Best advice so far.

The only throwing weapon usable as melee weapon are the Heavy throwing axe or the throwing lance.
Rest is crap...

Indeed the melee range of most thrown weapons suck, most of them are only good for blocking.
Don't become a ha thrower like me; accuracy sucks balls. On the ground stick to the higher tier weapons. Be sure to have enough PT for throwing spears or lances.
As for tactics; stick a bit close to the melee inf so you can run back to them if needed.
