Title: What sword is the best, and which one to loom?
Post by: Mlekce on December 18, 2011, 02:45:34 am
So i am first generation, and i have great sword, but i am interested in higland claymore and sword of war wich i picked up in some battles and i like all three swords. I am not that bad with great sword but stats are what bothers me,and i dont want to spend money buying other two swords if great sword is better to loom.

Quote
Highland Claymore

 weapon length: 117
 weight: 3
 difficulty: 16
 speed rating: 92
 thrust damage: 22 pierce
 swing damage: 43 cut
 lots: 2

Great Sword

weapon length: 120
weight: 2.5
difficulty: 13
speed rating: 93
thrust damage: 26 pierce
swing damage: 37 cut
slots: 2

Sword of War

weapon length: 121
weight: 3
difficulty: 15
speed rating: 93
thrust damage: 23 pierce
swing damage: 40 cut
slots: 2

I just cant decide what sword should i use and loom.

I would choose the sword of war. Same speed as great, but more damage on the swing side. You are not going to just thrust the whole time trying to kill a person are you?

Either Sword of War or German Greatsword. Both are the rarest 2h (well, those which you can buy and which people do loom at all), even if you don't like your choice you wont have any problems trading for anything else, most likely with big profit for you.

Wouldnt pick Highland Claymore, it's too short and notice its also slower. Great sword is a viable choice but the swing damage isn't all that great, so if I was a poky-guy I'd still choose German for extra range.

German Greatsword. if you dont like it after using it for a while trade it. people like that sword and dont sell it for less than 350k

Personal preference.

Id go for sword of war.

Like I said to you in game - claymore feels like a bad match of flamberge and greatsword.

Sword of war is just cool with its sheath.

Loom the Greatsword for superior piercing powaa and looks.

this.
i think great sword looks best and stabbing is a viable attack from a bigger distance, which is your natural advantage witch a 2h, so good stab damage is what i value most.

If you really want to stab just take a polearm or 1h. They all have more damaging stab than 2h

SoW in my opinion. I've used both SoW and greatsword for a generation, and I find the SoW much more effective. Can't really say anything about the Claymore exept that it's too slow for me .

But with a poleaxe? 31 pierce dude

The Poleaxe is more expensive, less fast, is longer and thus if you fight very close it might just glance(or hows it called when you are too close to hit)and the 2h has the Advantage of its awesome Stab animation, giving it superior length.

Why not buy all 3 and try them to see? You can sell them directly or put them on the market for a bit less than you paid. Better than looming it then not being sure if you made the right choice

Sword of War because it has a sheath.

That sword is crap. It isnt that fast as it say on market,it is slower for me,and it is too short. I tried SoW today and it is cool, had some pretty nice score on some maps but it is a little slower than i thought. I guess that is because of weight. I get owned easily by poelarms,i just hate ppl with great long axe and elegant poleaxe, they are so fast. i dont know how they do that, but they are damn good. On the other side i just go and swing once and kill 2h guys in medium and light gear .

I tried poelarms, and i dont know to fight with polearms. Polearms without foot work are usless, and they are big and easily get stucked, and you kill more your teammates.
Polarms are very good, but i dont know to fight with it. It is ok when i duel slower 2h,and polearms, but when shielders come i just can cry or skip the fun 2h ppl with maces or spamtana.

If two handed sword wasn't nerfed (And barely anyone used and use it) I would propose that if you want a balance of speed and length.

(It lost 2 or 3 speed and some thrust damage not sure on the swing damage if it was like it is now)

Dont loom a german/danish, Sword of war looks badass id pick it over the others. Gotta say claymore is pretty awesome too tho, but more speed and length is what i would go with.

This. If you think about the stats and performance too much you lose the fun. And that kills the mojo, making you play worse with the weapon. So take whatever you like the most playing with. SoW and GGS have the biggest market values though, if you ever have a need to trade the item those two should have no problem getting sold.

Try the two handed sword. It's one of the first lookms I ever got and I really like it's speed and cheap repairs. It doesn't suffer for damage that much either. Downsides the length but with a bit of footwork it shouldn't bother ya too much

I have a MW Sword of War, but would trade it for a MW Greatsword, if that had a sheath. I'm a man, I don't like to walk around with my weapon exposed all the time.
