The reason I didn't really like Grey was because grey with grey chainmail looks weird to me.

Ok in the end I went with Blue. I thought Blue because the armour is very Nordic and Nords in Mount and Blade are generally blue. Also I took the texture from the Mail Shirt.

Ok, I hope the people who downloaded the retextures like them. If you like them bump the thread up so more people can see them :).

I've started working on another armour but instead of just a retexture, I'm also editing the model. It's the Tribal Warrior Outfit. On this armour I wanted the Fur to be modelled in like it is on the Kuyak, Nomad Armour and Khergit Armour.

So today I tried retexturing the horrible horrible Studded Leather Coat. It took a while but I eventually ended up with this. Bottom Left Corner.

Now from the texture. I don't think that looks too bad. I was really looking forward when I was opening the game to see what it looks like ingame.

Seriously what the fuck? I blame the tiny space of texture size for the horrible quality. Maybe one day I'll have to redo the UV map of the model so it can have a better texture.

Can't you change the resolution of custom4.dds in your picture-editing software and then try to add more detail to the texture (it must be possible with modern picture-editing software although I have no experience)?

ok here's a little update.

I'm going to stop posting my chainmail retextures separately from now on. I'm going to edit all the armour in the game and make all chainmail match eachother then release in one pack so you guys don't need to download them all individually.

Tried my hands at retexturing the Vaegir Helmets. I made the chainmail a new texture to match the darker chainmail armours. I also edited the metal of the helmets to be light and look more like Narf's Rus Helmets.

Can you please retexture the sarranid guard armor´s mail? It´s so bright and does not fit the rus helmets!

EDIT: I just noticed it: The mail of the new byzantion helmet is dark, but if you look closer its the ugly old native chainmail. Would be awesome if you could retexture that too :D

Yeh I'll probably do the Sarranid armour soon. I'm planning on doing all the native armours first then I'll move onto custom items.

No, you would not need to add "roman legionaire armours". Could you also define exactly what you mean by that anyway? The cliche Lorica segmentata? Because that wasn't even used widespread during its peek, and was only partially around up to about the late 3rd / early 4th century.

You have to remember that Rome generally didn't invent their weapons, they stole the ideas off of other countries around the world when they saw they were effective. Rome spread far and wide and had a great influence on many countries and cultures long after it collapsed. Roman armours and weapons / derivatives were widely used all over Europe and the Middle east throughout the entire Medieval period actually. Although more commonly the early / middle period.

You'll actually find that "Roman" derivative armour is actually already in the game...  :wink: The Lorica squamata / Lorica hamata (scale / chain armour), which were far more prominent in the Roman army throughout. It was also the standard issue for late period Rome. Indeed, even the Viking swords are derived from a Roman sword, the Spatha.

Spangenhelms were adopted and used by many countries for a long time, a big reason for this was that it was relatively easy to make via riveting pieces of metal together. Kettle helmets and bascinet became very popular too for the same reasons. Poorer armies / units continued to use whatever they could get their hands on for a long time. Especially Gaelic / Eastern countries which used the helmets quite late.

Not everyone ran around in plate armour, you know? It was very expensive. The mod includes early and middle period armors, shields and weaponry such as Viking, Kevien Rus, Saxon and Norman kit to name but a few... (We should probably remove cataphracts too?) There is literally no reason to not include some Spangenhelms. Especially not "LOL ROME HEHEHEHE".  :)

Youre right on most of what you say. But the Spatha is a sword from germanic tribes that was adopted from the romans, not the other way round.

You're right, my wording should have been derivative not derived. As I said in the post, the Romans yoinked weapon and armour design from various tribes / countries. This is another reason why it was even more widely spread.

Yep. I agree with you the helmet could be included, but then we would need also some cool new early medieval body armors ...

The mod badly needs new equipment, even if it has the same stats as some of the other stuff. I wonder what their limit is for items so that the game isn't really slow to load? Also, I wonder if it's allowed for us to replace a current model with one of our own, or would that be considered rule breaking? Because I might make some stuff and replace items I never intend to use with it...

Hello again guys.

Sorry I haven't made an update for a while. It's because I haven't really been playing cRPG a lot. I haven't really been in the right mood to play cRPG mainly because The Norsemen rejected me and I hate playing alone so I sort of stopped..

Anyways I've been addicted to Star Wars The Old Republic! Another reason why I haven't been playing a lot.

But I will come out with an update soon. I always work on these while I play cRPG. Alt Tabbing out whenever I die to do some work.

Well I finished a few armours today and beause they were quite popular armours I felt I would be nice and give it out.

Its only the tabard version, others are fine I think.

Yeh some of the new armours I retextured came out a bit brighter than expected but they still look good.

I found the Gamefront Deletion rule:

Hey Korgoth, why not use the mount and blade repository? Or mediafire, it's been my go to file host for a good while.

Anyways, have you ever messed around with normal maps? I redid the normal maps for the Nordic helms because the native texture to me almost rubbery. I've been using them for so long I forget what the originals look like, but I'll put up some comparison pics and a link at some point.

Anyways, every now and then I'll notice armies in game, and the thing th at bugs me the most is usually the normal map. Quite a few armory don't seem to have proper normal maps adjust have some glossy shader assigned to them. I keep thinking just a revamp of the norms would help the game out a lot.

Especially when you look at some of these new armors, the Byzantine themed ones? Good norms, to the point though where it makes you realize how outdated some textures are.

I don't just change the brightness of the mail, I change the mail texture to the better one that is darker. Then sometimes I change the metal textures like I did on the War Mask. I know it's not strictly retexturing but what the fuck else am I meant to call it?

Giving the main post a minus just because you don't like me calling it "retexturing" is funny.

To Install put into your "mountblade warband\" folder. Note Native armours will be overwritten in all mods, Non Native armours will be overwritten just in cRPG.

Uploaded a new version! There's a few new armours in this one. All are in the screenshots in the OP.

Ok the new patch of armours has kind of made this pack a bit outdated. I'm going to quickly retexture the new armours then release a new version of the pack.

haha Yeah it shouldn't be long. I've already done most of the new armours, I also had to redo a texture for helmets by Dejawolf because the texture was updated.

Yep I was looking for their texture file yesterday. I couldn't find it. I want to texture them to match the plate mittens texture and look like metal, not plastic.

Also last night I changed the Heavy Gauntlets texture.
The lighting of the map was horrible and the screenshots are fucked quality, they look better in game

Its a Zip so I think you just go in and pull the files out.

I did but all new textures are black..nice but black... and I have many red alert text when I launch Crpg..

maybe it is because of WSE2 ? Maybe I put it on bad folder ?  :lol:

Personally I think all three should just be deleted completely from the mod, I never see people using them unless they are purposely trying to look as ugly as possible but if they are going to be in the mod I thought I might aswell make them as pretty as possible.

Great work as always!

But one thing: Mail Gauntlets now look like mail mittens with a brown edge, you don´t really see the fingers anymore. Could you reverse that or at least tell me the name of that file so I can revert it manually?  :)

Yeh I was thinking of changing them back, it doesn't look as good.

So i worked a little bit on the old Native Lamellar Armour. I wanted to make this one look a bit nicer because I use to love this armour back in the day.

I replaced the old Lamellar scales with better ones, new chainmail and I also put an overlay on the cloth to make it look a bit better. I still need to work on the straps a bit because they look pixelated and shitty.
