Title: Spear and Shield tweak
Post by: Osiris on December 14, 2011, 09:16:28 pm
So as some/most/all of us know A spear and shield combo with a 1 handed weapon was a very popular combination in history.
You would start with your spear then drop it and switch to a 1hander

I propose that we try to have the same sort of thing here.

I suggest that the spears that can be used with a shield become 1 slot weapons and unsheathable. So if you change to your 1 hander you lose your spear.  Any comments?

Making it 1 slot sounds juicy, but still unsheathable hmm... I dont think it would affect me very much so i guess its a fair trade. Sounds resonable

Seems like an unnecessary change. Even with spears being 2 slots, you can still use a spear, a good shield and a 1-hander.

It's fine as it is imo, looks like you just want to use 2 slot shields.

I run with a ashwood pike, a grosse messer, and a cav round shield. Seems fine.

I run with RTS, 1h and 1 slot shield and i find it totally reasonable. Dropping spear to use sword is logical and deal with "spear from the pocket" problem. BUT the only logical choice is to make all weapon with reach above 120 unsheatable.

Things are fine as they are, save that spears barely fucking do anything when you hit your enemy.

My first gen was a 15/24 using that type of equipment and there didn't really seem to be any problem.
